When Akshaye Khanna played A Part Time Hanuman in Gali Gali Chor Hai

I had never seen aRamlila being performed live, and neither have I been on stage as an actor - Akshaye Khanna
For Akshaye Khanna, the fun part ofshooting Gali Gali Chor Hai was playing Hanuman in a Ramlila sequence, thedramatic folk re-enactment of the life of Ram and his war with Ravan. “Stagingthe Ramlila is a small-town tradition in North India where the play is stagedannually over 10 successive nights. I had never seen a Ramlila being performedlive, and neither have I been on stage as an actor. So it was great fun for meto slip into the costume, get a monkey face, wear a mukut (crown) and a tail, say my lines in the most dramatic way possible, and have the audience clappingand cheering,” says Akshaye.
Elaborating about his part in the filmAkshaye says that he plays a cashier whose hobby is acting, the reason he ispart of the Ramlila.
“My character worked very hard forseveral years to land the part of Hanuman as Ramlila is a very big event, andit’s very prestigious for an actor living in small towns to bag a part in it.My playing Hanuman is the sub-plot in the film,” he adds.
The Ramlila sequence in the film wasshot over four days at the famous Iqbal Maidan in Bhopal and the locals werecalled in to be part of the crowd. GGHC is directed by Rumy Jafferi and alsostars Mugdha Godse and Shriya Saran. It releases on February 3 2012.

T-series combines 2010-11 superhitsin single foot-tapping ‘New Year Mash-Up’

As farsetting trends in Bollywood music is concerned, trust the entertainment leaders,T-series to introduce something innovative into the music scene time and again. In fact, it is this constant re-invention, exploring new frontiers andintroducing new concepts - with a perfect timing - that has been the company’shallmark. And their latest musical concept,Zero Hour Mash Up only drives home this point further. Introduced for thefirst time in Bollywood music, the ultimate dance track track is already a rageon You Tube, drawing elated comments from Netizens.
Conjured upby the redoubtable DJ Kiran Kamath, the track, comprising some of the biggestchartbusters from this year - and a couple from 2010 too – this is one mash upthat every dance enthusiast will love to have on his or her plate during theNew Year eve celebrations as it offers more than just foot-tapping fare.
The songscombined include some of the most popular songs from films like Ra-One, Mausam,Dum Maro Dum, Yamla Pagla Deewana. Some numbers from last year’s Bhool Bhulaiyyaand Dabbang have also been thrown in to add even more punch to the track. Ofcourse, T-series is hardly surprised by the overwhelming online response to theMash Up.
“This is thefirst time that music lovers in India have been introduced to the concept of aMash Up. We had been working on this idea for some time. But we had to do a lotof thinking as far as selection of songs was concerned. We wanted it to be fullof energy and a perfect dance track with a lot of rhythm and a fast tempo. Andthe overwhelming response on the Internet shows that listeners love it,” saysNeeraj Kalyan, President, Super Cassettes.
“We wantedto release it during end of the year, to add to the party mood,” he added witha smile. The track will soon be available for online downloads and for mobiles. The CDs of the Mash Up, Neeraj said, will be released on New Year’s Eve. Forthe uninitiated, a Mash Up is a completely new track or a composition createdby fusing two or more original songs. A highly creative process, this isnormally achieved by overlaying the vocal track of one song perfectly and smoothlyover the instrumental track of another, thus creating a new and unique musicalexperience. Although the concept has been popular in the West for quite somenow, it was apparently left to T-series to bring it to our desi shores! Thisyear with the ultimate New Year Mash Up, you cqan keep dancing all night!

Ek main aur ekk tu -- on Kareena and Imran

Ask Imran Khan his strongest memory while shooting in Las Vegas for Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is and you get a shocked expression.
Reason, a very funny and shocking incident that happened to the unit while shooting in Las Vegas.
Entire unit decided to go to strip club for some fun after a long day of shooting. Imran Khan went along too to give company and since he had never been to a strip club in Las Vegas before and the idea sounded quite exciting.
Says a source," After a long tiring day of shooting, someone on the sets suggested to go to a strip club since soon they were supposed to return to Mumbai after finishing the schedule of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Everyone thought it would be fun and a different experience all together. Later when they all left from the strip club, Imran realised that they were being followed and had been followed all the way to the hotel."
Apparently, a young pole dancer found Imran Khan so cute that she decided to follow him all the way to the hotel. Sometime after reaching the hotel, the hotel authorities informed Imran about a young girl wanting to meet him.
Imran was quite shocked that the girl from a stripclub had followed him. Infact, next day when they began shooting she landed on the sets too.
And when she found out that Imran is a star in India, she insisted that she wanted a picture with him. Sources say that only after she got a pic from Imran did she decided to leave the sets.

Ek Deewana Tha Story on AR.Rahman and Prateik

It seems like music maestro AR Rahman’s good luck is rubbing off on to Prateik too.How else would you explain the actor’s reluctance to part with Rahman’s film trophy, insisting that it’s a good-luck charm for him?
The story goes like this: during Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008), Prateik had gone on to win a number of Best Newcomer awards. But since Rahman wasn’t present at the dos to receive his own trophies, and Aamir doesn’t attend award functions on principle, Prateik ended up collecting all their trophies.
“Later, of course, he handed them over to the rightful winners. Though, he didn’t manage to give Rahman one of his awards, because they didn’t meet after the film released,” says the insider from the entourage.
On Wednesday, when the Dhobi Ghat (2010) actor met Rahman at the Taj Mahal, Agra, for the music release function of Ek Deewana Tha, he was carrying the trophy with him. But even before Prateik handed over the trophy to Rahman, the actor told the maestro that his trophy was a good luck charm, as things had been going really well for him ever since it came into his possession.
“Rahman then said that Prateik could keep it,” reveals the insider. When contacted, Prateik — who plays the male lead opposite British model-actor Amy Jackson in the film — says, “I feel extremely blessed to work in a film, which features the work of a maestro like Rahman. I have learnt so much from him, and he is really an inspiration.”
