~As the beloved Po will
soon be returning to our television screens on Sunday, 19th March on Star
Movies, here are some fun quirky facts about the animated series~
Animation isn’t child’s
play. Thus, after every scene was approved after the animation, the animator
would receive a fortune cookie with a customized fortune! Now we know what
encouraged them to make Po so special!
Kung Fu Panda is based
out of China and when the first movie in the series had released the Chinese
were very impressed with their authenticity towards their culture. Hence, they
decided to join hands and create the first ever co-produced American feature
film.
The directors Jennifer
Yuh Nelson, Alessandro Carloni decided to shoot 1/3rd of the film in China and
the rest in America.
Apart from Po, the
villains were equally loved by all. These previous 2 movies had British artists
Ian McShane and Gary Oldman. Kai is the first villain to not have a British
Accent.
Various actors have been
a part of Po’s on screen journey. One such person is Jackie Chan who has lent
his voice for two different characters of the same film – as Monkey in the
English release and as Li (Po’s birth father) in Mandarin.
Not only have famous
personalities like Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie given their voice to this
edition of the series, but four of Angelina Jolie’s children, Shiloh
Jolie-Pitt, Pax Jolie-Pitt, Knox Jolie-Pitt and Zahara Jolie Pitt are voice
extras in a scene in the movie!
J. K. Simmons was all set
to play ‘Kai’. However, the Mads Mikkelson had replaced him mid-way and the
character had to be rewritten. The writers plight didn’t end here as later on
Rebel Wilson was replaced by Kate Hudson leading to them having to rewrite her
character as well!!
Apart from our dearest
Po, Tigress has always been seen red qipao with golden vine patterns and black
pants. In this film, they decided to give her a new outfit where she donned a
long sleeve yellow tunic with red.
Last but not the least,
for all the Po fans out there, he and his friends shall be entertaining their
audiences for a long six movie or chapter franchise as announced by DreamWorks
Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, in 2010.
Looking forward to seeing
Po and his friends premiering exclusively on Star Movies on 19th March at 1 pm
and 9 pm.
