The
American rock band IMAGINE DRAGONS has broken a record and for the first time
ever in history the ‘Las Vegas’ rockers make it to the top of the Billboard
Artists 100. The band leaped from number 8 to Number 1 to become the top musical act in the United States for the
first time. The Artist 100 concept
was launched in July 2014 which
takes into account and measures artist activity across key metrics of music
consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and
social media fan interaction to provide an overall accurate understanding of
artist popularity.
The band released their new
album ‘Evolve’ on the 23rd of
June, shortly after which it debuted at the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 list. A
single from the album ‘Believer’ made it to the top 10 at number 6 on the
Hot 100 list. Album sales contribute the
majority of the rock band's Artist 100 chart
points (67 percent), followed by digital song
sales (17 percent). In the three history of
Artist 100, only Katy Perry has completed a
longer ascent to Number 1 than
Imagine Dragons. The album has been soaring high and continues to break
records.
