Naach Meri Rani: Guru Randhawa Feat. Nora Fatehi

It took Manoj Bajpayee 4 hours to get ready for his many avatars in Suraj Pe Mangal Bhai shoot

Promising oodles of laughter, Zee Studios' upcoming comedy flick Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari helmed by director Abhishek Sharma is all set to release this Diwali.

The joyride starring Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, and Fatima Sana Shaikh tells the story of a wedding detective agency that runs background checks on prospective grooms. It gets dramatic when the worlds of Suraj played by Diljit and Mangal played by Manoj collide.

Manoj, who is evidently one of the most impressive actors of our times, has taken the opportunity of playing detective to slip into multiple looks for the film. In the trailer itself, one can see him shift gears with impeccable ease moving from playing a beggar, to an old dabbawala to a turbaned Sikh, prosthetic look to even slipping into the look of a Maharashtrian woman complete with nauvari saree.

Revealing his process in a behind - the - scenes, the video takes us through steps of getting into the prosthetic look, which he dons in of the songs. It would take him close to 4 hours to get ready for that specific look. Being a director's actor, Manoj went through it patiently and the result looks pretty damn good.

In an earlier interview, Abhishek had said, "Manoj is one of those rare actors in Bollywood who can play any character with flair. In this film, because he plays a wedding spy, he dons many looks. I remember how excited he was getting into these different looks. When people watch this film they will realize the real marvel of this brilliant actor all over again.”

SHAH RUKH KHAN AND KAJOL’S DDLJ STATUE TO BE UNVEILED IN LEICESTER SQUARE STATUE TO MARK THE FILM’S 25th ANNIVERSARY

Heart of London Business Alliance today revealed the latest statue to join Leicester Square’s ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie statue trail will be of the king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan, alongside his co-star Kajol, from their film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. This will be the first ever long-term Bollywood statue erected in the UK. The announcement, thus, marks the 25th anniversary of Indian cinema’s most loved film, DDLJ, and also coincides with the big 50th year celebrations of Yash Raj Films.

Written and directed by debutant Aditya Chopra, DDLJ shattered all box office records and is one of the biggest all-time blockbusters in the history of Hindi cinema. It also went on to become the longest-running Hindi film of all time! DDLJ is also the winner of a record-breaking (at the time) 10 Filmfare Awards and the film literally changed the face of Bollywood globally.

The film was made at a budget of 4 crore and the blockbuster, in 1995, collected 89 crore in India, 13.50 crore in overseas markets. Thus, total collections stood at 102.50 crore worldwide in 1995! In today’s inflation adjusted value, DDLJ’s collection stands at a staggering 455 crore in India and 69 crore in overseas territories, taking the total worldwide collections to a phenomenal 524 crore!

DDLJ, often dubbed the Romeo & Juliet of Bollywood cinema, is about two non-resident Indians, Raj and Simran, and their star-crossed love story across Europe and India, beginning on a train from King’s Cross Station. The statue is set to be unveiled in Spring 2021, when organisers hope that its stars Khan and Kajol will be able to travel to unveil the statue in a special celebratory event.

The location couldn’t be more fitting, as Leicester Square featured in DDLJ in a scene when Raj and Simran first cross paths, albeit unbeknown to one another. Fittingly, the scene features two of the square’s cinemas prominently, with Raj seen in front of the Vue cinema, and Simran walking past the Odeon Leicester Square. The new statue will be positioned along the eastern terrace, outside the Odeon cinema, honouring this scene. Other London locations featured in the film include Horseguards Avenue, Hyde Park, Tower Bridge and King’s Cross Station.

The statue will join nine other film icons from the past 100 years, eight of which were unveiled in late February and recently granted longer term residency by Westminster Council to remain in Leicester Square until at least July 2023. In September a statue of Harry Potter also joined the original line up, while visitors can still encounter Laurel & Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Mr. Bean, Paddington and iconic DC Super-Heroes Batman and Wonder Woman.

Mark Williams, Director of Destination Marketing at Heart of London Business Alliance, says: “It’s fantastic to be adding such titans of international cinema to our trail as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the most successful and important Bollywood films of all time, and it’s exciting to be able to bring to the trail the first film that actually features Leicester Square as a location. This statue is a fitting tribute to the global popularity of Bollywood and the cultural bridges that cinema can help build, and we’re in no doubt it will attract fans from all around the world.”

Avtar Panesar, Vice President of Special Projects at Yash Raj Films, added: “When Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was released 25 years ago, it changed the face of the industry and captured the hearts of everyone who saw it. We’re thrilled to be able to announce this statue, and to be the first film of Indian origin to be represented in ‘Scenes in the Square’. We are honoured that these Bollywood superstars have been recognized alongside the Hollywood elite, from Gene Kelly to Laurel & Hardy, and this is a great way to express the international appeal of cinema.”

Farah Khan spills the beans on why Geeta Kapur was not present while choreographing the song ‘Gerua’

Sony Entertainment Television’s India’s Best Dancer is ranked among the best dance shows ever on the small screen circuit. This weekend, the show will welcome the multi-talented Farah Khan on its ‘Romance Special’ episode. The contestants will be seen performing on the iconic love songs choreographed by Farah Khan. The multi-faceted director enjoyed all the acts and praised the choreographers for their unbridled talent.

Contestant Akib with choreographer Paul danced on the song Gerua from the film Dilwale, which made Farah Khan nostalgic. She said that she loved the act and their interpretation of the song. “I had goose bumps seeing the slow-motion moment that Paul and Akib did, in movies it is done with special effects. But this was amazing. It was heart-touching.” After their performance, Farah had an interesting story to reveal about the choreography of that song. Farah had reached out to Geeta to help her choreograph the song to which Geeta Ma had to decline as she was relentlessly shooting for dance reality show Super Dancer. Geeta Ma said, “I had to ditch Farah Khan for Sony TV as I was shooting for Super Dancer that time. While we had planned the whole dance here, I couldn’t go with them, so my loss. When she had gone to shoot at the location, my heart belonged there as my choreographers had gone with her and I couldn’t. Once they were back, they had so many stories to share, like in what conditions they choreographed, but even god helps, and he created a rainbow effect which was natural and not at all created in the edit. Farah ma’am makes most of the situation and can make do with any condition at hand, without any excuses. If it’s raining and she thinks that the song can be choreographed in the rains, the plan changes on the spot. She is my lady Midas, ‘Woh jahan haath rakhti hai, woh sona ho jaata hai.”

Furthermore, the contestants paid a special tribute to Farah Khan – something that one should not miss!

Watch Romance Special on India’s Best Dancer this weekend at 8pm and vote for your favourite contestants to see them as finalists only on Sony Entertainment Television
