EPIC Channel celebrates ‘Van Mahotsav’ – The National Tree Plantation Festival



EPIC Channel – India Ka Apna Infotainment, has constantly strived to showcase content that is both relevant and resonates with the audiences. The channel will pay tribute to the National Tree Plantation Festival by showcasing a daylong line-up of some of India's diverse and rich wildlife stories on Saturday, 6th July, starting 12:00 pm. Celebrating the spirit of ‘Van Mahotsav’, EPIC Channel has curated a special line-up from its high-quality, premium library of India-centric content.

Van Mahotsav, a week-long festival of tree planting, celebrated in July every year, was launched in 1950 by Shri Kanhaiyalal M. Munshi – the then Union Minister for Ariculture and Food to create an enthusiasm for preservation of forests.

The channel will air national award winning documentary ‘Foresting Life’ that narrates the story of one man’s drive behind creating the world’s first man-made forest on a sandbar. It is the biggest forest in the middle of the river Brahmaputra in Assam, India.

Also part of the line-up are episodes from the show 'Wilderness Days’, which celebrates India's diverse, and rich wildlife. Hosted by the late Tom Alter, the show has been shot in India's greatest wildlife landmarks including Corbett Tiger Reserve, Rajaji National Park, Pauri, Valley of Flowers, Choti Haldwani, Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Mandu and Ranthambore National Park to name a few.

The special programming also includes, award-winning film ‘Jungle Ke Bahubali’, an odyssey into India’s picturesque, wetland canvases and their spectacular wildlife is an engrossing journey of the lives of Asian Elephants, and the stunning bio-diverse North Eastern jungles of India around the river Brahmaputra.

EPIC CHANNEL CELEBRATES MAHARASHTRA DAY AND GUJARAT DAY



Across the world, May 1 is celebrated as International Labour Day but the date is of special significance in India as the days when two of it’s most progressive states, Maharashtra and Gujarat celebrate, the day they achieved statehood. This year EPIC Channel - India Ka Apna Infotainment, known for its India centric content is taking the celebrations on-air, by showcasing unique stories from this region in a day-long curated programming line-up from 12pm -7pm.

Culturally diverse and picturesque states with unique culinary traditions, the programmes will explore little known and unique facets of these states.

The special line-up by EPIC Channel, will feature episodes of Sharanam where Juhi Chawla will take the viewers on a journey to, ‘Ganpatipule’ on the western coast of Maharashtra, the abode, according to popular belief, of a 400-year-old self-manifested idol of Lord Ganesha. An episode on ‘Sai Baba’ of Shirdi where the viewers will get a chance to understand the message and miracles of Sai Baba through the eyes of his devotees. Another episode will cover Mahalaxmi of Kolhapur who is eulogised as the reason for the prosperity of the city.

Kahi Suni showcasing episodes on ‘Madhavpur Ghed’ in Gujarat, which traces the mystic romance of Lord Krishna’s wedding with Rukmini. ‘Adalaj Vav’, which tells the tale of Rani Radubai and the formation of the beautiful Adalaj Stepwell.


No journey in India is complete without a chapter on food, Lost Recipes hosted by Aditya Bal, will take the audience on a journey of food which is diffused into the pages of history and the rediscovery of a tradition that once was. One of the episodes on ‘Mumbai’ will focus on its 2000-year-old East Indian community, and their mouth-watering cuisine. Another episode will be on ‘Udwada’ in Gujarat where the host discovers the forgotten recipes of 19th century that are a delightful amalgamation of Persian and Gujarati cultures and their flavours.

Viewers will get a chance to visit through the lens of history some of India’s most historic locations including Champner, Daulatabad, Murud, and Lakhpat through the show Ekaant.

EPIC CHANNEL GIVES ITS POPULAR SERIES ‘LOST RECIPES’ A SECOND SEASON



EPIC Channel has announced the second season of its popular food show ‘Lost Recipes’ hosted by celebrity chef Aditya Bal. In the first season, the renowned chef and author travelled extensively around the country in search of recipes and food preparations that have quietly been forgotten over time. Dishes such as Mutanjan- Sweet Chicken Pulao, Houk Sun-Curry or Sun Dried Vegetables, Bevina Hoovina Payasa- Neem Flower Payasam, Painda-E-Khas - special stuffed game birds; and many more were revived from their slumber. 

The 10 episode second season will see him, once again, walk down the forgotten road of culinary traditions that have been lost, forgotten, or simply neglected. Straight from the traditional kitchens that stand like tiny oasis of food memory, this season will explore dishes from Hampi, Vizag, Darjeeling, Bodhgaya, and Maharashtra, among others. Accompanying the cooking, shall come alive tales steeped in history and folklore. 


Commenting on anchoring a second season, host Aditya Bal said “I had an amazing time shooting for Season 1 of the show where so many delicious dishes were revived. As a chef, I’ve always felt that the history and heritage of a dish makes it all the more interesting. I’m looking forward to making more discoveries in Season 2, after all some of the most iconic times in our history go hand in hand with food.”

Lost Recipes S2 is sponsored by “India Gate Basmati Rice” and soon will be announcing more sponsors. The show will be aired in June 2019 on EPIC Channel for its viewers.
