Rani Mukherjee announces marital alliance between AbRam Khan and Salman Khan’s daughter

The weekend just got too hot to handle with the iconic Karan-Arjun Jodi of Bollywood coming together on one platform! SRK and Salman Khan will be seen together on the Dumdaar Finale of Dus Ka Dum this weekend and joining them will be none other than Rani Mukherjee. With their undisputable camaraderie and witty sense of humor, the trio will be seen disclosing their hearts desires and a lot more personal secrets on the show.

During a conversation, SRK mentioned how his younger son AbRam is like Salman Khan. While the little tot expresses his love for his parents quite often, he doesn’t shy away from saying I Love You too to any girl he meet! Taking this conversation forward, Rani Mukherjee said “Salman I wish you have a daughter! Your daughter will be the prettiest girl. She will be blessed with all your features. We can actually look at a rishta for your daughter with AbRam.”

To which SRK was quick to add, “We shouldn’t have called Rani on the show. She is at it… She is getting people married, making people plan their children, all on this show. She should be called Shaadi Mukherjee.”

When Rani Mukerji bonded with Rachel Griffiths, the actress from Hacksaw Ridge and Saving Mr Banks

Rani Mukerji was recently in the land down under for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne where she won best actress for her role in Hichki. The actress spoke about inclusion and how Hichki talks about a topic that has never been discussed in Bollywood. Her speech on inclusion had an impact on a lot of people present there but it also impacted the Australian actor and director, Rachel Griffiths.

Griffiths, who is a prominent face in several Hollywood films like Hacksaw Ridge, Step Up, My Best Friend’s Wedding, was really moved by Rani’s outlook towards the theme of Inclusion. Having worked in a film that educated the masses on Tourette’s syndrome, Rachel was extremely impressed with Rani’s work graph. A source close to the actress said, “Rachel is a huge activist and was quite impressed with Hichki’s storyline and is really looking forward to watching it. And Rani was very interested in Rachel’s upcoming film Ride like a Girl, which she is directing. Rani is quite eager to watch it. Rani even asked Rachel to visit India to which Rachel replied that she was more than happy to and was planning to fly out to the country soon.”

We would love to watch these two in a film together!

Rani Mukerji Wins the Best Actress Award for Hichki and the ‘Excellence in Cinema’ Award at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Rani Mukerji won hearts everywhere with her outstanding performance in Yash Raj Films’ superhit film Hichki. As Naina Mathur, a passionate teacher who deals with Tourette Syndrome, Rani delivered a powerful performance, also communicating a key message about equal treatment for people with physical challenges in India.

Her character inspires positive change in school students from economically backward origins, a story that resonated globally for Hichki to become a massive hit and now Indian Film Festival of Melbourne has awarded Rani with the Best Actress Award for the year.

Hugely popular with sizeable Indian diaspora living in Melbourne, Rani expressed her gratitude saying, “Indian Film Festival of Melbourne has always welcomed the best of Indian cinema and celebrated our form of storytelling. I feel very proud and thankful that Hichki has been accepted and loved by audiences here.

It’s a story with universal resonance, and it’s spirit of positivity has won over Indians and locals here. I am also grateful for winning the Best Actress Award and sincerely thank everyone for applauding my performance. I have found this film festival a vibrant and progressive setting for cinema and its impact beyond languages and cultures. I thoroughly enjoyed being in Melbourne and hope to travel with my films here in the near future.”

The theme of the IFFM 2018 festival was ‘Inclusion’. Rani Mukerji is the only mainstream actress who has successfully and sensitively embraced such subjects through her exceptional films Black and Hichki so Rani was also chosen unanimously to win the ‘Excellence in Cinema’ award at the ceremony.

IFFM had an eminent panel of jury (Andrew Anastasios, Jill Bilcock, Geoffrey Wright, Nikkhil Advani, Rajeev Masand, Simi Garewal, Sue Maslin) who unanimously decided upon Rani Mukerji’s win as the Best Actress.

With over 10,000 people watching, Rani spoke of the honour and said, “I think it’s a matter of national honour for anyone to hoist their national flag. And the fact that I’m doing it in Australia so far away from home is even more special and makes it more patriotic. I’m humbled that this honour been bestowed upon me by Mitu and the Victorian government so I must thank them. I have had the love of the audiences for the last 22 years and it’s that love that has got me here today. So I must thank the audiences the most. I most remember the patriotic song from my father’s film Hum Hindustani, “Chodo Kal Ki Baatein”. I really miss him here today.”

Rani Mukerji Returns To Acting With HICHKI

She took everyone by storm as the power packed policewoman in Mardaani, and then took time off for motherhood. Now, Rani Mukerji will return to do what she loves doing the most. She will star in Yash Raj Films’ Hichki, to be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma.
With Hichki, she will be seen in a positive and inspiring story about a woman who turns her biggest weakness into her biggest strength. Rani elaborates, “I was looking for a script that would challenge and excite me, and Hichki came my way. Each of us has a weakness that pulls us back. It could be a disability or any condition but if we just look at it as simply a hiccup, we can emerge as a winner. It won’t come in the way of achieving our dreams. Hichki is built on this positive premise and I decided to take it up.”

Hichki will be Maneesh Sharma’s third film as a producer with Yash Raj Films after Dum Laga Ke Haisha and the forthcoming Meri Pyaari Bindu. Siddharth P Malhotra, who has directed We Are Family will be making his first film with Yash Raj Films.
