Rajkummar Rao works his Midas touch yet again with Stree

Rajkummar Rao steals the show yet again in the sleeper hit Stree , that went on to create a splash at the box office . This comes fresh on the heels of his last hit Bareilly Ki Barfi , another game changing film after Newton , that went on to become India’s official entry to the Oscars.

The young star has catapulted to the top in a short span of time, thanks to his spectacular success ratio that boasts of films that have struck gold at the box office, while receiving massive critical acclaim.

Slow and steady , Rajkummar Rao , earned the reputation of being part of films that  promise to be both substantial yet entertaining and his recent blockbuster Stree stands testimony to that.

All praise for Rajkummar says his Stree co-star Shraddha Kapoor, "Everybody knows how talented Raj is, he is the finest actor in our industry. Raj has such a unique connection with his audience and it is one of a kind.He is one of those rare actors who can't be replaced, he truly stands out in his own way. Talking about how the actor was the first and only choice for the film say Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the writers and co-producers of the horror-comedy  , " Right from the early stage of the film, we knew Rajkummar will ace this role. Even before anything was formed, the screenplay or the director coming on board, we approached Raj with the story and he loved it.”

Adds director Amar Kaushik, " Raj and I would often meet during film festivals and when I had to choose an actor for the character Vicky (in Stree) it had to be Raj. When I told him that he was playing a tailor’s part, his immediate reaction was, ‘Okay, send a sewing machine to my house, I will learn tailoring’. Raj makes your work easy".

Impressed with Rao's versatility after watching him first hand , producer Dinesh Vijan , went on to cast him in his next , Made in China.

Rajkummar Rao bags ‘Man of the Moment’ honour at Vogue Beauty Awards 2018

His brilliant portrayal of interesting characters in remarkable films including Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Omerta, Newton and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana released last year and the ones he is eagerly anticipating this year – Fanney Khan, Stree and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Rajkummar Rao is clearly the ‘man of the moment’!

Like last year, the prolific performer continues to sweep major awards this year as well, as he recently bagged ‘Man of the Moment’ award at the Vogue Beauty Awards 2018.

Rajkummar, who looked dapper at the coveted award ceremony, said, “While I won several awards last year and this year for acting, I think acting has finally made me beautiful as well with this Vogue Beauty Award. It means a lot. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents for all the support, encouragement and all the hardships that they have faced to make me who I am.”

Rajkummar Rao turns poet for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana

Rajkummar Rao has recently started shooting for Ratna Sinha’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana in Allahabad, produced by Vinod Bachchan and written by Kamal Pande. 

While shooting for the movie recently, the versatile actor surprised the makers by penning a poem, that too a romantic one! 

According to sources, the scene required Rajkummar to praise his co-star Kriti Kharbanda and recite a poem for her and though he was given dialogues, he thought of adding few more lines to it to make it more interesting. The romantic poem goes like - Manzil ho tum, Sapna ho tum, Uparwale ki sabse khoobsurat Kalpana ho tum. 

Everyone on the set was pleasantly surprised by Rajkummar's impromptu decision of penning a romantic poem that really worked for his character and the scene. 

Rajkummar informs, “There was a scene where my character is to recite a poem for Kriti's (co-star Kriti Kharbanda) character. To make my lines more interesting, I wove them into a poem. It was an impromptu effort, written with the belief that the poem would help me connect with the lines better. And I think it worked out quite well for the character and the scene,” rattling off the lines, “Manzil ho tum, sapna ho tum, uparwale ki sabse khoobsurat kalpana ho tum.” 

Produced by Vinod Bachchan under the banner Soundarya Production, directed by Ratna Sinha and featuring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda, the shooting of Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is currently underway.

B-town bowled over by Rajkummar Rao’s bravura act in Trapped

Rajkummar Rao’s latest and much-awaited movie Trapped has left the audience gushing for more. 

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the survival-drama-thriller revolves around a guy (played by Rajkummar) trapped in his own house in a high rise building with no escape routes. 

At the recently held screening of the film, several B-town celebrities including Konkona Sensharma, Kriti Sanon, Vivaan Shah, Adah Sharma, Gulshan Devaiah and filmmakers - Hansal Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan and Navdeep Singh have praised the movie and Rajkummar’s brilliant portrayal of a helpless guy calling the actor 'simply outstanding’, ‘insanely fabulous’ and ‘pure genius’.
