Surprises await as Anupria Goenka reprises her role in Criminal Justice Season: Behind Closed Doors

Anupria Goenka's career at this point is a breeding ground of super gripping projects and one of these is soon to hit the digital scene. Ending the year on a thrilling note, Goenka is going to be seen reprising her role as Nikhat Hussain (a lawyer) in Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors and its trailer dropped recently.

 

One of India's most loved crime-thrillers is returning with Anupria's character evolving into an advocate, who's sure of her footing. The versatile actor remarks that she feels amazing about her role making it to Season 2 and that it gave her the opportunity to revisit a character she cherishes. Told from a woman's perspective, the upcoming season chronicles a murder allegation against an eminent lawyer's wife. An open-and-shut case on its surface, there's more to crime than meets eye and the defence (mounted by advocates Madhav Mishra and Nikhat Hussain played by Pankaj Tripathi and Anupria Goenka) is tasked with proving the innocence of an indefensible suspect.

 

Anupria says, "I remember after the success of Criminal Justice, people hounded me with the question - 'When is Season 2 coming?' So here we are, waiting to present to you a side of the world of law and crime you've never experienced before. In the first season, I was an assistant to the lawyer and in this season, I have sort of found my feet in the profession. Getting back to being Nikhat felt like coming home. Everything that I had done to prep for the role just came back to me. I'm stoked about its streaming."

 

Based on Criminal Justice by Peter Moffat, adapted for India by Shridhar Raghavan, the Season 1 revolved around a man’s one-night stand turning into a nightmare when he woke up the next day covered in blood. He doesn’t remember anything from the previous night and all evidence is against him. After the show gained popularity, it was announced that the series has been renewed for the second season in February 2020 and its trailer dropped recently.

Amazon Prime Video's original sports docu-series Sons of the Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers is now streaming on the service. The docu-series that captures the team's journey in the Pro Kabaddi League last season has been amassing a lot of love from the fans and critics alike.

After inspirational personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, cricketers Smriti Mandhana and Manish Pandey, Badminton champ- Saina Nehwal gleefully announced their love for the docu-series on their social platforms, Indian YouTuber and content creator Gaurav Taneja aka Flying Beast met Jaipur Pink Panthers skipper for an exciting activity.

The dashing Gaurav is better known to his 1.6 Million Insta fans as 'Flying Beast' for his love for fitness. However, in this video he will be seen performing a challenge put to him by Deepak Niwas Hooda.

In a recently released video, the two are seen comparing their modes of work-out, where Deepak revealed that their schedule required them to be fast and energetic and quick on their toes while for Gaurav, it was the act of performing the moves slowly to gain maximum muscles.

Gaurav was also seen trying out his hand in Kabaddi, playing along with Deepak's boys.

Amyra Dastur and Mallika Dua turn comic writers for their upcoming web series

Amyra Dastur has been busy riding the waves, literally, in Pondicherry and other areas of Tamil Nadu for her upcoming web series, Trip 2. The actress has also begun shooting for Mental Hai Kya with Rajkumar Rao and Kangana Ranaut. While shooting for trip 2, Amyra’s social media was abuzz with images and videos of the actors having a blast on the set. But one particular co-actor, Mallika Dua and Amyra hit it off like a house on fire.

The two who are starkly different individuals in real life struck a camaraderie that grew into a strong friendship. They cherish their differences especially with Amyra being a quirky South Bombay girl and Mallika being a hilarious brazen Dilli ki ladki. Their jokes and videos became so popular even on the sets that the director knew she had to cash in on this comedy gold. The director got Amyra and Mallika Dua to write and add more scenes to their part of the script. Amyra, who plays Mallika’s cousin sister, interacts with her in all these scenes. The two would sit for hours figuring out dialogues and actions that would make audiences laugh even more.

When asked about their stint as comic writers she said, “When we played off one another in the scenes, the ad lib just came in organically. It’s great to work with a Director that allows her actors to improvise. Sonam loved it and encouraged our input during the shoot.”

Will Elnaaz Norouzi take centerstage in second season of Sacred Games?

The first season of the Netflix series Sacred Games met with tremendous response. And the catch phrase, "Sab marr jaayenge, sirf Trivedi bachega" almost became iconic. So much so that, it was the most shared line from the show on social media and even attracted loads of speculation as well as memes. 

But not many have noticed that as far as the female characters go, most of the main female characters die in the series, with the exception of Zoya, played by Elnaaz Norouzi.

Vikram Bhatt’s Twisted 2 trailer out

The trailer for Vikram Bhatt’s original web series Twisted 2 was launched at a suburban theatre today. Present at the launch were the lead stars of the show, Nia Sharma, Rrahul Singh, Dilnaz Irani and Vikram Bhatt himself, along with the director of the show, Anupam Santosh Saroj. The trailer was followed by 2 songs from the show; Ghav Hai Ghav Par, sung by Arnab Datta, the lyrics of which have been written by Shakeel Azmi and music directed by Raja  Pandit and Pyar Na Ho Jaaye Kahin sung by Ravi Mishra, written by Shakeel Azmi, and music directed by Harish Sagane 

Twisted 2 is the second installment of Vikram Bhatt’s recently launched OTT platform VB on the Web’s original show, Twisted, which garnered a tremendous response from viewers when it first aired on the digital platform. Nia Sharma will be seen reprising her role of Aliya Mukherjee for the reboot, while Rrahul Singh, who plays an ex cop in the series, will play the role of Aryan Mathur, opposite Nia. The new face in the series, Dilnaz Irani, is making a comeback to television and will be playing Arunima, a police officer,in the show. 

Twisted 2 is slated to release on the OTT platform on 25th April 2018 and is produced by Vikram Bhatt with Jio Cinema.

Nimrat Kaur undergoes obstacle training for The Test Case

The platform’s highly anticipated web series, The Test Case is a great example of it. Nimrat Kaur who essays the role of Captain Shikha Sharma, trained for months, in order to accomplish a flawless portrayal of her character in the series.

The talented actress has been on a rigorous training spree for roughly a year, which included running, weight-training, consistent drills and a lot of combat training. Also, she had to give up salt and sugar completely. But given the tremendous response to the first episode of the military drama series and the gratifying experience of working for another medium altogether, Nimrat has no regrets.

Says Nimrat, “There was never any room for faltering because I knew physically if I can’t get into a mould that needs me to do justice to what Captain Shikha Sharma can attempt, then mentally I won’t be able to associate with her character. It takes a different kind of discipline and that is something I will cherish forever. It was very important to stay true to the physicality of what the girl needs to be like. It has been a journey of blood, sweat and tears.”

The Test Case is a story of the first woman combat officer, who struggles to carve out her own identity in a male-dominated world.

ALTBalaji’s ‘The Test Case’ wraps up

ALTBalaji's web series have certainly changed the era of digital entertainment upon entering it. One such show titled, The Test Case, that is touted to follow the suit, has just concluded its shooting schedule. Having garnered a remarkable response to its first episode, the show has left the digital audience in the middle of intrigue.

About Shikha Sharma (essayed by Nimrat Kaur), preparing to be the first woman test case in a combat role, within the Indian Army, the series explores the themes of loyalty, team work and courage, while also showcasing hardships and immense training army officers undergo to serve and protect their country.

The inspirational show streamed its first episode in April this year. Because of monsoon, the shooting was rescheduled. But more than making up for the lost time, the makers shot the rest of the series at a breakneck speed and wrapped it up recently.

Talking about her sentiments on the same, Nimrat says, "Shooting for The Test Case has easily been the most rewarding and challenging experience, while being an unpredictable one. As a child, I always dreamt of being an army officer until I realised how difficult it is. It never quite felt like I was playing a part, it was almost like a fantasy. We've had some of the most toughest times on the schedule and have become more than a family. I will miss being on the set. I have personally been attached to this for more than a year now. It hasn't sunk in yet that it's over. It's not going to be easy to let go of this whole routine and lifestyle that I took on, to prepare for my role as Captain Shikha Sharma. I can't wait for people to watch what we have put together, literally with our blood, sweat and tears."

On being asked about plans to party post wrapping up the shoot, the actress informed, "We haven't made any plans but I hope to make lots of plans with everyone so that we can all just chill and have an easy day without having to chase light or come back from a lunch break or just go crazy because we are trying to meet deadlines all the time. I just want to sit down with the team have a laugh, have fun, have a great meal, dance, party and basically just let my hair down."

Black Coffee's first two episodes get 3.5 million views

Producer Yash Patnaik's Black Coffee is already a hit. The first two episodes of the web series have been aired, and have already garnered 3.5 million views. It's a proud moment for the producer, who says, "We launched Black Coffee on a completely new platform and we are happy that viewers have lapped it up. So far, the first two episodes have generated over 3.5 million views, which is very encouraging. The YouTube channel Beyond Originals has generated over 75k subscribers within 3 weeks. All this without much marketing or PR push. This adulation will help us tell more stories." 

Yash says that while they were eagerly waiting to see how the audience reacts to the show, they were not expecting this result. "It was an experiment for us. We had expected it to do decently well. But the success has been exceptional. There is a huge demand for the next episodes from the fans. Brands are reaching out to us and inquiring about our new series. We are in a happy space," he says. 

Needless to say, fans seem to have loved actors Harishita Gaur and Param Singh. "As this was our first series and on a new platform, we wanted actors, who understand our story telling and the audience of the medium. Harshita and Param have managed to break their earlier image with Black Coffee," he says. 

Talking about the screening schedules for the rest of the series, Yash says, "We wanted to give enough breathing space to the first two episodes, so the gap between each episodes was 2 weeks. From the 3rd episode, we will reduce the gap to one week each. We are working out a fixed date and time schedule from episode 4." 

Beyond Dreams have a lot of other surprises for their fans. "We are currently working on four  new web-series. They will be as different from each others as chalk and cheese . We will be treading in to spaces which have not been tried before," says Yash.

Social episode 12 update: A glimmer of hope for Prithvi

While sometimes the entire country comes together to raise its voices against the wrong-doings of many, there are times, when people hide behind the virtual walls of social media and spread menace in our society.

The thriller series started with Prithvi, a concerned brother, turn into a black hat hacker by the night to locate the whereabouts of his teenage sister, Veda. The last episode took the viewers on a roller coaster ride when the cops with the help of Prithvi and the gang manage to capture Jithu. But under the pressure of political bureaucracy, the commissioner had to let Jithu go, while he was also transferred to another department for his doings. After many twists and turns, Prithvi and gang come across the information that Veda may have not survived the brutal attack by KK in the hotel room and Prithvi breaks down.

Building up the suspense, the latest episode shows that Prithvi is overjoyed to receive a text from an unknown number with an emoji that is a code between him and Veda. He is convinced that Veda is still out there and is determined to find her. Furthermore, Sonakshi is seen hiding something from Sunny. Upon getting caught she gets into trouble for trying to help save the girls. Meanwhile, on the other side, GK kick-starts a political turmoil as he overcomes his dilemma and takes the hard decision of giving up the security video of his son abusing the young Veda.

The show weaves a narrative about an innocent teenager, Veda who gets kidnapped to be exploited in the world of exotic partying. Her brother, Prithvi with the help of his friends tries to locate her whereabouts and unravels dark secrets hidden on the internet. The series started with tech tycoon, Vikram Sampath (played by the sensational Rana Daggubati) addressing the country to start online campaigns via viral videos. The spark he initiated led to a social revolution when Prithvi's childhood friend Neelesh started the #ShameShamePuppyShame campaign in the hopes to find Veda. So far the show has kept us hooked to our screens with riveting twists and the recent episode doesn't fail to keep up the thrill. Starting on a brighter note, we understand that the commissioner on Veda's case has made a breakthrough and decides to bring Prithvi in for a conversation. He confronts Prithvi about his hacking activities online and Prithvi confesses that he did venture into the dark web to find clues that could bring Veda home. Understanding Prithvi's concerns, the commissioner tries to help the gang. When Myra identifies Jithu to the police, together they plan to set a trap to catch him. The story moves to Chaand's hardware store where Nidhi fixes the broken tape recorder hidden inside Ramaswamy's pen with the help of Chaand and realizes that his life is in danger. Meanwhile, KK's father is in a dilemma as he has to choose between his family and an impending political storm he will face if he doesn't fulfill his duty towards the society as a minister. Jithu uploads the video of KK attacking Veda and Nidhi breaks it to Prithvi that Veda has passed away. How does Nidhi know of Veda's death? Is Veda really no more?

Shweta Tripathi to return with her much popular role in Disney’s The Trip Season 2

The versatile actress Shweta Tripathi last year did a finite web series The Trip that went on to be a super success. The Trip was a story of four girlfriends Shweta Tripathi, Lisa Haydon, Mallika Dua and Sapna Pabbi on a road trip in Thailand as a part of the bride’s bachelorette, the journey though turns into an emotional roller coaster. 

The plot touted to be the female version of Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara in the initial stage, a bachelorette trip with a generous dose of self-discovery and somewhere hints towards Hollywood hit franchise The Hangover type hiccup situations. But at the end girls emerge out of that tricky situation stronger and closer than ever. The Trip was one hilarious ride to experience especially for girl gangs and with The Trip Season 2; Shweta Tripathi is geared up to explore her quirky side to the next level of entertainment. 

Currently, Shweta is all game playing Golu Gupta in another video on demand series Mirzapur for Amazon Prime under Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani production. Shweta is sky high doing multiple projects especially on a digital platform and with The Trip Season 2 and Mirzapur, she is all set for more visibility onscreen. Shweta will take the lead in the second season as the story now focuses on her life post the bachelorette celebration and will be shot in Rajasthan. When asked Shweta about The Trip Season 2, she said, "Shooting for The Trip was a party. The girls got along amazingly well helping each other with everything from dialogues to clothes. I can’t wait to get on screen with them again."

Suhail Nayyar to play Captain Manit Verma in ALTBalaji’s The Test Case!

Suhail Nayyar, who made a remarkable debut in Udta Punjab alongside Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, is excited to bag a pivotal role in ALTBalaji’s The Test Case.

The talented actor will be seen playing Captain Manit Verma from the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (specifically from the Brigade of the Guards) and has been a cross-country champion. Manit is flamboyant, charming and an inherent misogynist who firmly believes that women are not any good as commandos. He considers all women as objects of desire who must be pursued and won over.Suhail says, “ “I am excited about this series, especially working with Nimrat as I have been a big fan of her. She is so much fun, both, on screen and off screen. She gets a chess-board to the sets and we all play when we are not shooting. Also, the camaraderie between all the actors is amazing, it feels we belong to the same camp. I have now started working on my fitness because we will have quite an adventurous shoot in November and December. I am looking forward to it.”
