MARDAANI GIRL TEJASVI SINGH BAGS LEAD ROLE IN MADMIDAAS FILM'S CRIME SERIES

Madmidaas Films formerly known for their award winning short films ‘Aunty ji’ (Shabana Azmi), ‘Baatein’ (Supriya Pilgoankar, Shivani Raghuvanshi), Dafan (Neena Kulkarni, Ahsaas Channa), and Popular web series Yeh Crazy Dil (ZoaMorani, Lilette Dubey) recently announced its female lead face for its upcoming untitled crime series. The Dehradoon born and bred- Tejasvi Singh is the lucky girl who fought through over hundreds of candidates and bagged the coveted role after an 8 month of pan India search.

Producer and Director Adeeb Rais says, “We wanted a young, fresh and spunky personality and but above and beyond everything- a great actor and performer. Tejasvi is just that. There’s a beautiful rawness in her screen a presence that holds your attention and her command over essaying complex emotions really blew my mind. She is a talent to watch out for and I’m really excited and proud that Madmidaas Films is bringing forward her untapped talent out to the world. We as a production house want to give many young talented actors and filmmakers a platform as we grow and reach new horizons as a production house,”

Adeeb adds “ Tejasvi was formerly seen in Yash Raj Films Mardaani 2 in a pivotal role besides playing a cameo in our own short film ‘Aunty ji’. The irony is we searched all over the country for our lead face for months, and the search happened to end with someone right around us. (smiles) But, I’m happy and confident about our choice. She has essayed the character wonderfully. I couldn’t ask for anyone better to essay the role of Seeya. I’m also confident she’s going to grab a lot of eyeballs with her performance."

An elated Tejasvi describes her character “ Seeya’s character was an exciting territory to step into, because while the world might label her decisions as stupid but she's actually as real, flawed, and innocent as most regular young teenagers. She's a free spirit and a pure heart, she’s sensitive, expresses herself courageously, and has her heart on her sleeves. With all her immaturity and flaws, she’s still extremely loveable. I enjoyed every bit of being here and a part of me wishes I could be as free spirited as her.”

When asked further about details about the series Adeeb says, “We’ve just completed our first schedule. We will finish the second schedule by mid of year. The remaining cast has some popular personalities and other exciting fresh faces too but it’s too early to reveal all our cards out right now. It’s a realistic, relatable and young crime story. It's gritty, hooky, and dark but also has a strong emotional base. It’s a totally new genre for us and I’m excited to see what everyone thinks of it (smiles)”

Despite being just a film old in Bollywood, Harshvardhan Rane already has a huge fan following. The talented actor, who is eagerly anticipating the release of his forthcoming war drama, PALTAN, was quite surprised by the sweet gesture of one of his fans recently.

And he decided to impersonate the same tattoo sported by the handsome actor on his right hand.

Harshvardhan informs, “When I walked out of the gym recently, I saw a boy looking at me and smiling and he flashed his tattoo ‘Son of God’ just like mine. I hugged him and clicked a picture with him. He wished me good luck for PALTAN, releasing on 7th September this year. Such a sweet gesture.”

Lucky Month for ‘Dil Hi To Hai’ lead actress Yogita Bihani

Luck is a matter of ability coupled with opportunity at the right time. This has been proved correct for Yogita Bihani who has bagged another big assignment. Yogita, who will soon be seen on Sony Entertainment Television’s show ‘Dil Hi To Hai’ essaying the lead role has now completed shooting for a commercial advertisement with Tollywood star Nagarjuna. She was last spotted on television with Dumdaar Salman Khan wherein she shot for a Dus Ka Dum promo. Yogita has done multiple commercials but it’s not often that a budding actor gets an opportunity to feature with Salman Khan, then bagging a lead role in television Czarina Ekta Kapoor’s show and now getting a chance to feature in another commercial with Superstart Nagarjuna is a dream come true for the starlet.

Expressing her excitement, Yogita says, “it truly is the luckiest month of my life. Though I have been trying my luck in acting for some time, scoring such big opportunities in a month has put me on cloud nine. Working with Salman has been the best experience of my life till date, which every actor wishes for at least once in their career. Then being chosen to play the female lead for Ekta Kapoor’s show and now I am in seventh heaven after working with Tollywood Superstar Nagarjuna. I was striving a lot to get a good break and now looking back at this month, all my efforts have paid off really well. After Dus ka Dum promo, I have been approached for other ad projects as well. I hope lady luck stays with me a little longer with our show coming soon on Sony Entertainment Television.”

The one thing these actors learnt from their mothers

Moms aren’t just birth givers. They are your biggest supporters, toughest critics, loudest cheerleaders and strictest teachers. They are also the epitome of love and strength. If it weren’t for mom’s constantly watching and leading the way, we’d all be a little lost, in life and otherwise. Here is what a few actors had to say about the one thing they’ve learnt from mom that they follow to this day. After all, Mommy knows best!!

Taapsee Pannu: My mom’s internal strength is what I became a huge fan of once I grew up. The way she handled 3 really different personalities at home (my Dad, my sister and myself) the way she became a shock absorber of our madness and still kept us together. The way she was the bridge between my Dad and me and still continues to be. The way she doesn’t give up on any one of us even though we r very mean to her at times because she is way more evolved and stronger person than us

Richa Chadha:  What I learnt from my Mom is compassion. When I was little, I would kill ants and insects. My mother told me - “Yeh cheenti shayad apni mummy ke paas ja rahi hai?”  That was such a strong rephrase at the time. It’s made me compassionate and ethical.

Ali Fazal: Somebody is always watching. Always. Just remember to fold your clothes and your own sheets. Keep your room neat. Your life is but a version of that room.

Arunoday Singh: The greatest thing my mother has taught me is that happiness and self-esteem are not synonymous with success.  She taught me to seek the joy, to stay in the light. No matter what I’m dealing with.

Sumeet Vyas: That there’s no harm in listening, rather than always waiting for your turn to speak. Also Dosing off in the most dreadful and tense situations in life.

Rasika Dugal: The one skill I have learned from my mother is- attention to detail and that has been an important skill to have as an actor. Her attention to the smallest of things in everything she does never ceases to amaze me. Whether it's in her attention to her work or in the way she chooses gifts for people and especially when she is cooking /baking. I can never be as good as her but I think I have got some of it!

Amyra Dastur: My mother has always been a very kind and generous woman. She never bought our pets over the years, instead, she would adopt them (especially strays). She has paid for the education of all our maids’ children and she’s been helping charities like Red Cross ever since I can remember. My mother has taught me to look at the good inside people and to never ever judge an individual at face value or by someone else’s statements. I admire my mother for not only teaching me how to stay kind and honest in a harsh world but also, how to laugh at myself every once in a while and to not take life so seriously. She is and always will be my hero.

I was always sure that come what may, I will not opt for the artificial ways to look fit. I had a lean body and also a vegetarian so the process was going to be tougher for me but I accepted the challenge and well today I am proud of the results.” Well, we must say that we are proud of the results too.

'Porus' will break all norms: Laksh Lalwani

Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Porus created waves when the first promo hit the tube, and the audience can’t wait for the show to start. The historical drama show, which aims to depict the story of Greek conqueror Alexander and Indian defender Porus, will make the TV fraternity sit up and take notice of the new benchmarks it will set. Lead actor Laksh Lalwani says that the show is truly one-of-a-kind. Set in 350 BC, ‘Porus’ is being shot at a lavish set in Umbergaon, Gujarat and will be aired from November 27th.
"The first emotion that came to my mind while taking up this show, was gratitude. I wasn't able to believe that I would be part of this show and wondered if I would be able to pull it off," says Laksh.
For his role as Porus, the 21-year-old tall, fair and handsome actor has beefed up. He has also acquired special skills to carry out the action sequences.
"My training started in April. I learnt sword fighting, horse riding, martial arts, rowing, scuba diving, and everything adventurous. I was living the life I wanted to, and getting paid for it,” he says, adding, "I gained weight and muscle too, and transformed my originally lean body,"
He is convinced that the show --said to be the most expensive that Indian television has seen – will be a trendsetter.
"This will be a show which will break norms. Honestly, people look down upon television. When this show will come, it will change all that and will become a benchmark. The action, costumes, acting and direction are superb," he says.
The role requires him to dedicate 12 hours a day to shoot, and two hours of workout --leaving little time for his personal life. But Laksh is not complaining.
"My present is Porus and my only aim is to make it larger-than-life. That's what I am focussing on," says the actor, who sports heavy costumes and accessories in the show.
Before getting a chance to feature in ‘Porus’, Laksh had an interesting story about how he landed in showbiz. He auditioned for ‘Roadies’ on his friend and mother's insistence and got chosen. "My mother said, 'You must go, I have a dream to see you on television'. That's how it all began. I auditioned and got selected. Then one fine morning, I got a call saying that what if instead of 'Roadies', we offer you a fiction show and pay you as well?
I said why not! That's how I packed my bags and came to Mumbai,” he says

Ssharad Malhotraa gets fan love from overseas

Fans mean everything for actor Ssharad Malhotraa. While his fan following in India seems to know no limits, the actor has an ever widening fan base over seas as well. The actor has been recently getting calls from his Pakistani fans, urging him to visit Pakistan.
"Recently, I have been getting a lot calls from Pakistan. Those calls are usually around 2 at night. A lot of People from Islamabad, Karachi are calling me every day because my show is doing really well there. So they call me up and ask me to visit their place and promise me that they will give me a grand welcome. They have also started a new brand of chips called Kasam chips. So it is very nice and flattering. So I am hoping that someday if I am lucky enough, I might cross the borders and go," he says.
Meanwhile, the actor, who is playing the role of Rishi in the show Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki, says that he wants to try something else now. "I am bored. It is time to move on and play some different character, something exciting. I have been playing Rishi since two years now. I want to play a challenging character next," he says.
Ask him if Rishi is like Ssharad, and he says, "About 70 percent, we both happen to be Punjabis, we both come from joint families, we both are of today's modern era, we both like flirting. We both believe in the word love. We both believe in living life to the fullest."

The actor wants to try his hand at theatre as well. "I want to do theatre but because of the time constraint, I am not getting the space for that. I am looking forward to actually taking up something on that platform. I am looking forward to being part of a web series. I want to touch all the platforms," he says.

Irrfan Khan roped in as the ambassador for this global brand?

The Hindi medium actor who has been applauded not only in the Indian Cinema but also in the west has year on year been giving us more reasons to celebrate him as an actor. The versatile actor has given us many successful films over the past years including Lunchbox, Hindi Medium, Piku, Talvar and now Qarib Qarib Singlle, has been always appreciated by the audience for the roles he essays. Just recently, Irrfan Khan, was signed by  Edelweiss Group, the financial services conglomerate, as the voice of the customer for its latest SME Business Loans.  Now adding to his ever-growing list of endorsements looks like he is all set to be the face of a leading international financial company. The actor recently got an endorsement offer from an American multinational financial service brand to be the brand ambassador for the same. Irrfan has been a brand ambassador for major brands in India but this will be the first time he will be seen as the face of a global brand which has a reputation for signing sports players as ambassadors. If sources are to be believed, “Irrfan recently got an opportunity for being the brand ambassador for a financial services brand and he has already signed the dotted line for it.”

Here’s why Laksh was scared of signing Porus

Being part of Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s magnum Opus, ‘Porus’, seems to be the dream project for many in the television fraternity. While the cast has been carefully chosen and trained, very few know that lead actor Laksh Lalwani was initially hesitant to take on the show. “I was very scared before signing the show. We had many meetings about the script and character. It was a huge responsibility to portray the character of a prince. I had to learn horse riding, sword fighting and many things to get into my character. But, then I took it up as a challenge and prepared myself for the show,” says Laksh. In fact, Laksh’s costumes weigh around 16 to 18 kg, and are laced with several ancient jewellery pieces. The actor, who is currently shooting in Umbergaon, Gujarat, for the show, was last seen portraying the character of Veer Mehra in ‘Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil’.  Writer, director and producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary has presented Laksh in such a grand way that he will surely be the flavour of the season.

Playing this character is indeed a nice change for me as I am happy to wear the regular clothes again. Sporting jeans and jackets and riding a bike feels really nice. My introduction scene has been appreciated a lot."
Since he signed the show so fast, Ankit is busy beefing up for his character, as he shoots the show. “There was hardly any time to prepare for my role. I am going to gym whenever I am getting an opportunity. I have to do it as am playing a boxer in the show,” he says.

Ask him about his favourite sports films, and he says, “I have loved Chak De! India, Dangal, Rocky. Whenever I watched these movies, I get goose bumps and they inspire me a lot. One can learn so many aspects of life from watching these movies."

Vicky will be seen in a pivotal role in one of the most awaited Raju Hirani’s film the Dutt biopic and then in lead for the films like Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, Ronnie Screwvala’s Love Per Square Feet and a film on URI surgical attack.
