Team Rockstar aka Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri and director Imtiaz Ali spent some quality time with nature as the trio shared some fun moments amongst the lush green fields of Punjab recently, all by themselves!
After meeting the students of a local university in Jalandhar, the team who has been traveling on an exciting road trip across Punjab had a little time to themselves before their next venture….
So we hear that Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis and Imtiaz took off to the fields on Jalandar all by themselves without their security team, assistants and other staff!
We hear that an excited Nargis was running around chasing grass hoppers and taking in the sights of the beautiful green fields...Imtiaz disappeared to some place to soak in the peace... and Ranbir spent time sitting on the muddy grass surrounded by acres of land all around with cows chewing on their supper, breezy weather, totally isolated from the madness!
Says Ranbir, “We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful time in the rustic atmosphere. It was really nice and we all felt alive being so close to nature! We had the most fantastic time in Punjab and I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome and the love and the support given to team Rockstar!”

Kangana Ranaut: Bollywood’s first super girl!

Kangna Ranaut has been taken on board to be India’s first sci-fi female character. After experimenting with roles ranging from a supermodel- superstar to that of a drug addict, it’s now time for her to prove her acting prowess further.
Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan who is planning ‘Krissh 3’, an yet another sequel to the superhero franchise, has reportedly signed the curly haired actress for it. Roshan’s always wanted Kangna to play the role but due to her date issues she could not be a part of their project, when she was approached first.
Senior Roshan discussed the super girl role with many big actresses in the past six months but only returned disappointed. On being back to square one, when he re-approached Kangana recently, he got lucky.
Apparently, initially the actress had given her dates to ‘Dedh Ishqya’, shooting schedule for which got pushed to next year. At the same time, Roshan himself pushed the shooting of ‘Krissh 3’ to December this year.
Two subsequent moves, destiny and luck, has finally landed Kangy baby the role of India’s first super girl.
Kangana could not be happier on grabbing this opportunity that once almost slipped out of her hands. We have all seen her portray critical characters that involve human emotions, with great finesse. But now the question is, will she be able to pull off a super girl act or not.
As reported by a daily, a source close to her said, "Moving to a sci-fi character that draws its inspiration from superwomen like Wonder Woman or Supergirl was a challenge and a natural progression for an actress who loves challenges. She`s embarked on a rigorous training schedule which includes an intense martial arts programme. She believes the role is going to be a lot of fun and is looking forward to this."

Ra.One breaks box office record with Rs 170cr collections

Eros International Media Ltd (Eros International), a leading global company in the Indian film entertainment industry has announced a historic and record breaking opening for Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One, produced by Red Chillies Entertainments in association with Winford Productions which released across theatres worldwide on 26th October 2011. SRK’s super hero action film has set a new record at the Indian box office by earning a gross of Rs. 170 crore worldwide in the opening weekend (first five days of release).
The highly anticipated Diwali release triumphed at the box office with an incredible weekend gross collection of Rs. 137.25 crore (Net Collection of Rs. 96 crore) in India and Rs. 32.75 crore overseas. Since its release, Ra.One has been creating history by shattering regional, national and international box office record after record with the biggest Diwali day opening followed by the biggest single day collections for an Indian film and now the biggest ever weekend release for both India and overseas box office.
Ra.One opened across more than 4,000 plus screens worldwide (3,100 plus screens in India and 904 prints internationally, including 3D, Tamil and Telugu) and is the biggest Hindi grosser in south markets too.
Commenting on the opening, Nandu Ahuja, Sr. VP, Distribution, Eros International Media Ltd said, “Ra. One released to packed houses across the country on Diwali day and has already created history by taking over the mantle of the biggest domestic earner so far. The film continues to be on its record breaking spree with several new achievements since its release. The Cast and the Character
Rajit Kapur: Rajit Kapur, the versatile Indian actor, is the winner of the National Film Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the movie 'The Making of the Mahatma'. Rajit Kapur is a theatre actor as well as a director. In DAM999, the acting maestro dons the role of Shankaran who portrays Shantha rasa, the rasa of tranquility.
 Joshua Fredric Smith: He plays Captain Fredrick Brown, a tongue-in-cheek Anglo-Indian mariner, an epitome of Hasya, the rasa of laughter. Joshua, who was born in Northern California, made it to Hollywood following his grandfather's desire to make him a 'star'. Through his passion and determination, he is slowly on his way to fulfill that dream. Joshua's recent films include 'Finding a Place' and 'The Road to Freedom' was screened in Cannes.
Linda Arsenio: The audacious and heroic mood of Veera rasa (Courage) is portrayed by Linda's character as Sandra, a clued-in TV journalist. This young actress and model from Texas made her debut with an English film 'The Process of Creative Deception' before stepping into the Indian film industry. She has acted in films worldwide. She have done major roles in ‘Kabul Express’, ‘Pazhasshi Raja’, ‘Aaloo Chaat’, ‘Mumbai Salsa’, ‘Kedi’ etc.
Gary Richardson : The actor featured in award-winning and critically-acclaimed Marathi flick Harishchandrachi Factory and the Cannes and Academy Award winning movie 'Missing'. In DAM999 he plays the part of Mariya's father, Mayor John Brown.
Jaala Pickering: Jaala plays the role of Maria in DAM999, Freddy's invalid sister who is confined to her home. A personification of Bhayanaka rasa, Maria characterizes terror. Jaala Pickering is a well known English actress, model, television host and a professional dancer. She has played lead roles in 'A Brief History of Women' and 'The Humdrummer'. This hazel-eyed beauty has had many highly popular TV series and commercials to her credit.
Ashish Vidyarthi: The National Award winning actor Ashish Vidyarthi plays Durai, the antagonist in the movie. Bheebatsa is the rasa he represents and it symbolizes disgust. Though he started his acting career with a Kannada film, he soon became the 'most punched' villain in Bollywood. He is a gifted actor who has completed over 150 movies.
Vinay Rai: Vinay Rai plays the part of Vinay in the movie, a mariner and Freddy's trusted friend. Vinay is aggressive, fierce and ferocious and stands for Roudra rasa, the rasa of fury. The actor was merited for his performance in Kollywood which is India's second largest film industry in terms of revenue and worldwide distribution. Vimala Raman: An actress, a model and a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, the charming Vimala Raman plays Meera, an archetype of the rasa of compassion, Karuna. This former Miss India Australia 2004 has proved her mettle as an actress in four South Indian languages.
Megha Burman: Megha Burman the young Bengali beauty portrays Shringara rasa that stands for romance in the movie. She plays the character of Raziya; a Pakistani in DAM999.The young actress has been a part of various television commercials, promos and print campaigns.

Ousephachan: He has composed the tunes for DAM999. He is the winner of the 2007 National Film Award for Music Direction. This music maestro is also an expert violinist. Ousephachan has associated with A R Rahman for most of his films in the late 80s.

Shajith Koyeri: Shajith is one of the country’s top Sound Designers. He was part of the trio that won the National Award and the Filmfare Award for sound design in 2006 for Omkara. He has worked on more than 60 films as sound editor and designer.

Uzma Xina Kang: She was the Chief Assistant Director and Casting Director of the Aishwarya Rai-starrer ‘Provoked’.
Make-Up Artist
Pattanam Rasheed: Pattanam Rasheed is a National Award winning Make-Up artist. He won the honour in 2007 for gracefully ageing Mohanlal in 'Paradesi'. P. Jayachandran: This legendary singer has recorded more than 10,000 songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. He is affectionately called as Bhava Gaayakan or the Expressive Singer. Jayachandran has won the National Award for male playback singer in 1985. He has also received the Kerala State Award four times and Tamil Nadu State Award twice. For his contributions to Tamil music, the Tamil Nadu state conferred him the title of ‘Kalaimamani’.

K S Chithra: Chitra, the nightingale of South India, is a six-time National Award winner for female playback singer and a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri title by the Government of India in 2005. Mumbai, 31st October, 2011: UAE-based BizTV Network’s forthcoming movie, “DAM 999” is slated for a nationwide 3D release in India on November 25^th, 2011. This is the first international movie by mariners, directed by Sohan Roy, who is primarily a mariner and produced by BizTV network.
Shot in a single start-to-end schedule “DAM 999” has sixteen National and International award winning cast and crew working behind and in the scenes of the movie. It is based on real life incidents bringing to life the memories of 1975 Banqiao Dam disaster in China which claimed the lives of an estimated 250,000 people.
It is a movie with a social cause which describes the hazards dams can cause and creates awareness among the masses about the impending dangers of a dam collapse, if not attended on time.
The director, Sohan Roy says, “It was my deep rooted passion to make a movie on the Hollywood canvas, with a ‘Made in India’ stamp on it while bidding for the Oscars. The movie maintains a very positive note throughout, in the portrayal of Indian culture and values.
