Who’ll play tragic Amy?

Amy Winehouse’s extraordinary life, and death, could be made into a sensational film.
Several Hollywood producers are considering buying the screen rights to a book about the hugely gifted, but fatally flawed, North London singer.
There’s no screenplay and there isn’t a director yet, and any film is still a long way off. But there is a tome called Saving Amy, written last year by celebrity journalist Daphne Barak, who also made a documentary of the same name for Channel 4. It details Barak’s friendship with Amy and how she accompanied her to St Lucia and kept on eye on her while she was “resting” at various hospitals in England. Barak also befriended Winehouse’s ex Blake Fielder-Civil and her father Mitch.
If the right calibre of script writer can be found to turn Ms Barak’s jottings into a decent screenplay, and an A-list director hired to direct, then there might be hope for such a project. But the most important factor is to find an actress to portray Winehouse.
It should be someone who can sing and act and she would need to be someone with spirit, energy and talent, not some nobody from some TV talent show and certainly not Lady Gaga - that would be a travesty.
David Hare pointed out the other night, at a fabulous tribute to Vanessa Redgrave hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, that actors are vital contributors to any movie, often more vital than the director. Such a person is needed for the Winehouse film.
I gather that Tessa Ross from Film4, one of the executive producers of the Margaret Thatcher film The Iron Lady, and Jeff Berg from ICM in Los Angeles are in talks about the Winehouse film and how to develop it.

Diaz dating rapper

Cameron Diaz is reportedly dating rapper P Diddy, although friends insist it’s nothing serious and they’re just having some fun with each other.
The Charlie’s Angels actress, who recently split from basketball star Alex Rodriguez, is said to have rekindled her romance with the hip-hop superstar three years after they first hooked up.
But friends insist they’re just having fun.
A source tells UsMagazine.com: “Since they first hooked up, when she’s single, she’ll booty call him.
“But now they’ve gone public with their fling and have been spotted canoodling on several nights out, including in Beverly Hills restaurant Scarpetta, where they were ‘making out and acting romantic’.”
Cameron, 39, split from Alex over the summer after 18 months of dating as they both wanted to concentrate on their careers.
A source previously said: “She’s very busy with her career and he’s had injuries and wants to focus on his game.
“They are dedicated professionals.
“They’re still very friendly and like each other.
“They have an enormous amount of respect for each other.”
Rap mogul Diddy, who already has six children, has previously dated A-list beauties such as the sexy Jennifer Lopez and Cassie Ventura.

Demi Moor ditched Ashton Kutcher

Demi Moore is ending her marriage to Ashton Kutcher to “move forward” with her life, she announced last night.

The 49-year-old Hollywood actress revealed her divorce plans, saying she was doing it with “great sadness and a heavy heart”.

It follows several allegations that Kutcher had been unfaithful, including apparently cheating on his wife with Sara Leal in a hotel in September.

Moore said last night that “as a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life”.

She added that it was a trying time for her and her family.

The six-year marriage was first reported to be in jeopardy two months ago after Kutcher was accused, for the second time in a year, of having an affair. The 33-year-old was said to have spent the night with Miss Leal after an alcohol-fuelled evening.

Kutcher recently took over troubled womaniser Charlie Sheen’s role in hit U.S. comedy series Two and a Half Men. He and Miss Moore – whose films include Ghost, Indecent Proposal and About Last Night – celebrated their wedding anniversary the day after the alleged encounter happened.

Kutcher was first accused of infidelity in September last year. At the time, Brittney Jones, 21, told a magazine she had sex with the actor inside the Beverly Hills home he shares with his wife – while Moore was away.

It was also claimed that Kutcher was so worried the alleged affair would be exposed he made her delete their text messages.

At the time, the couple – estimated to be worth £95million – brushed off the allegations.

It is Moore’s third marriage. After divorcing first husband Freddie – whom she married in 1980 at the age of 17 – she met and married Hollywood tough guy Bruce Willis, now 56. They had three children before splitting in 2000 after 13 years.

Destiny’s Child’s forgotten member

Kelly Rowland doesn't think Michelle Williams gets the "credit she deserves".
The 'Motivation' hitmaker was in Destiny's Child with Michelle and Beyonce Knowles, and she admits people rarely acknowledge how hard it must have been for her to join the group – after two original members left – in 2000.
She said: "You know, I completely salute Michelle for joining. She came onto a moving train that was going 1,000 miles per hour. Nobody every gives her the credit she deserves."
While many girl groups have been the focus of rumours about cat-fights in the past, Kelly says Destiny's Child were never like that, and she continues to be close with her former bandmates.
She told Stylist magazine: "Listen, you can't preach about having female power, supporting each other and being a unit, if you're not one. I remember one of the first solo projects Beyonce did, I was sitting there the whole video shoot supporting her.
"To this day, I could wake up one morning and there's this long text message from Bey or Michelle."
