They are known
for given performances where they have made people cry, get scared, sympathize
and even hate. But when it comes to type-casting in this industry actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni
and Ravi Kishan are not known as
comic actors. However, this did not stop director Hriday Shetty from casting all of them in his Crime Humour movie Chaalis Chauraasi. “They are all brilliant actors. And just because they haven’t been
offered a lot of comic roles doesn’t mean that they are not good at it.
Unfortunately our industry has a habit of type casting the actors according to
the genres they have worked maximum in. After you see all of them in Chaalis
Chauraasi, you will feel that all of them are born comedians,” says Hriday.Playing the
role of undercover cops, if you see the 90 seconds promo of the movie, you
would notice the non-chalant way in which the actors have slipped into the
quirky roles. “We have done a lot of
things in this movie that generally we don’t do. We have acted funny, danced,
sang and a lot of other things. I am especially excited about this movie
because this will break the stereotypical approach towards us as actors from
the industry,” says Atul. One police van

park, except that it takes place in a police van. The story of the film
revolves around 4 cops Pankaj Suri aka SIR (Naseeruddin Shah), Albert Pinto aka
PINTO (KK Menon), Bhaskar Sardesai aka BOBBY (Atul Kulkarni) and Shakti
Chinappa aka SHAKTI (Ravi Kishan); who see an opportunity to a great future when they are given
a mission to pull off.
Things take a twist when another cop stops their van en-route and takes them as
his backup to catch a dangerous gangster.
The story
unfolds through the night where the fine line between law and crime is
repeatedly crossed, leading to unexpected situations, sometimes very hilarious.

the director of Chaalis Chauraasi has
directed films like ‘Plan’ (2004, starring Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra) and
‘Pyaar Mein Twist’ (2005, starring Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia) before this.
Also Hriday has spent over 23 years in film direction when
he started assisting from his school days and rose to be a strong associate
to eminent directors like, Mukul Anand, Sanjay Gupta, Rohan Sippy and others.
As asociate director Hriday has done films like– Kaante, Aatish, Hameshaa, and
Kuch Naa Kaho. Born into the Hindi film industry, Hriday is the son of
legendary fight composer of the 70s - Late M B Shetty, who did more than 200
films as actor and action coordinator.MAASK
