A financial blow brings Bipasha Basu's Hollywood debut to a halt

It seems Bipasha Basu's grand Hollywood debut has landed in choppy waters.
The producers of Singularity, the period romance drama that stars the Bengali beauty opposite Pearl Harbor star Josh Hartnett, are reportedly in a financial muddle and illequipped to complete the film's shoot at the moment.
The film, which is being directed by acclaimed director Roland Joffe of City of Joy fame, is based in colonial India and revolves around the love story of an East India Company official - played by Hartnett - and a Maratha warrior princess, essayed by Bipasha.
A budget of Rs 150 crore was sanctioned for the movie before the shoot began. But now, with most of the funds having been exhausted in sundry paperwork, the filmmakers need an additional Rs 80 crore to wrap up the film, thus bringing the shoot to a halt. Singularity stars several Indian actors including Abhay Deol, Atul Kulkarni and Milind Gunaji. A large portion of the film was shot in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh last year. It is then that the film first made headlines, courtesy of the speculated romance between Hartnett and Bipasha. The actress had laughed off the rumour, insisting the two were just friends.
