An elated Pratyusha on being offered to be the Brand Ambassador of a Cricket team mention, “This is going to be crazy, I know it already. Kamya proposed an offer I could not say no too. Starting March 8, this Women’s Day, you will never reach out to the red-and-brown clad Me Mukti Marshall who’ll help you fend off miscreants. Smita Thackeray's Me Mukti Marshalls initiative was launched today at the Bandstand Amphitheatre. Other than the Me Mukti Marshalls themselves, Smita Thackeray's family members including her son Rahul Thackeray, sister Swati Thanawala, Jivika Shah, celebrities of the likes of Divya Khosla Kumar, Neeta Lulla, Leena Mogre, Shibani Kashyap, Vaishali Samant, Megha, Yogesh Lakhani, Dimple Nahar and many others were also part of the event.

The Me Mukti Marshall is your new friend-on-the-train who promises to be a strong companion until you alight. The team of 13 well trained women will travel on the Western Railway trains between 9.30 pm and 12.30 am between Andheri and Borivali and Mumbai Central and Churchgate to ensure you’re never alone. The women, trained in self defense, will be armed with a baton and pepper spray to protect you from trouble.

A unique initiative by the Mukti Foundation, the Me Mukti Marshalls understand your need for a companion on the local trains. The Mumbai local railway, once the city’s safe travel lifeline, has witnessed a steady rise in crimes against women. Statistics by the Mumbai Government Railway Police for 2013 state that there’s been a 80 per cent increase in cases of sexual harassment of women in the trains. Can we forget how a man got in to the ladies compartment of a western line local train and attempted to rape a nurse who was travelling alone in the unguarded coach last July? Or the case of a foreign tourist who was attacked on a train by a robber? Last year, data shows that there were 76 cases of crimes against women, including rape, molestation and kidnapping, registered between January 1 and November 30.

The Me Mukti Marshalls, a result of  Mukti Foundation tie-up with security agency CISS, which is a team of women trained in basic unarmed combat, first aid and drills, will assist the Railway Police in their fight against crimes. With a baton and pepper spray, they will only deter an attacker before helping the victim take the miscreant to the police authorities.

“The police and authorities are doing their best to protect women in the railway premises. The Mukti Foundation appreciates their work and our Me Mukti Marshall is an effort to assist the authorities in curbing crimes and attempt to make women commuters feel safe during non-peak hours. Lakhs of women take the local train every day. Working women often return home late at night and at such times, the families are worried about the safety of their daughters and wives. Our Marshalls will be a friend and companion until the women get off the train,” explains Smita Thackeray, Founder-Chairperson, Mukti Foundation.

For the first few months, as a pilot project, the Marshalls will travel between 9.30 pm and 12.30 am on the Andheri-Borivali section and the Mumbai Central to Churchgate sections on the Western Line before expanding their presence on the Harbour and Central Lines of Western Railways as well.

Sunny Deol-Harman Baweja Form Mutual ‘Action Admiration’ Society

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol, who is known as the original ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, will soon be seen teaming up with Harman Baweja in a special role for Eros International and ESM's action-thriller ‘Dishkiyaoon’ and it seems that the two actors, who have a fondness for high-octane action , have got along like a house on fire.

Harman, who will be seen in a never-seen-before gritty avatar in the film, said, “I have always admired Sunny Deol and his action films like ‘Ghayal’ and ‘Ghatak’ and so getting to work with him was a dream come true. However, at the same time, I was also aware that I need to match up to his level when it comes to action sequences and I hope I have succeeded in achieving that.”

On his part, Sunny, who seems quite impressed with Harman’s action avatar, says, “Harman has really worked hard on his physique and I was quite impressed with his level of dedication and hard work. He is extremely talented and fans of the action genre will enjoy watching this film.”

Talking about the action scenes in the film, Harman revealed, “Dishkiyaoon’ will have raw powerful action that works aptly for the sequences in the film. Frankly, I had a great time working on the action scenes and I hope to do more action films in the future.”

Says Shilpa Shetty Kundra who makes her production debut with the film, "It’s a big step for me to be producing and making an action film .It’s a huge challenge and very exciting...The film’s appeal lies in the fact that it is everything an action-thriller should be…It will leave audiences entertained”.

Eros International and ESM's Dishkiyaoon directed by Sanamjit Talwar starring Harman Baweja, Sunny Deol and Ayesha Khanna is scheduled to release on March 28 2014.

Shah Rukh Khan Clears His Calendar To Attend ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ Trailer And Music Launch in Chennai

 
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who had paid a tribute to South megastar Thalaiva Rajinikanth in the foot-tapping ‘Lungi Dance’ number in ‘Chennai Express’, will be flying to Chennai to attend the trailer and music launch of Rajinikanth’s upcoming magnum opus ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ on March 9.

The actor will take a private charter and fly down to Chennai on Sunday morning - where he will join Deepika Padukone,A R Rahman and other dignitaries from across the country as they will attend the Tamil launch of magnum opus Kochadaiiyaan directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin.
Says a source, “SRK has always been a huge fan of Mr. Rajinikanth's  work and even during the Global Awards, that was attended by Mr.Bachchan, A R Rahman and Rajinikanth himself, Shah Rukh was constantly raving about ‘Robot’ to the other dignitaries. When he heard about the launch, he immediately cleared his calendar despite having a hectic schedule and instructed his staff to arrange a private charter so that he could be present at the event in support of Thalaiva's immortalization on celluloid.”

Confirming the news says director Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin, "Yes we are delighted that Shah Rukh Khan will be present on the occasion.He has always voiced his staunch support towards all of Mr.Rajinikanth's work and has gone out of his way to be part of the launch".
For the music and trailer launch, the makers have left no stone unturned to ensure that the event will be an extravagant affair-with throne-like chairs on the stage for the celebs and 8 feet images of Rajinikanth at various places inside the venue. Not only this, the makers of the film have also decided to send the invites of the event to guests in a special 3D format! A source confirmed the news and said that the invite will be a one-fold invite, with an imposing 3D image of Rajinikanth in his Kochadaiiyaan avatar.
Directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, which is being hailed as India’s answer to James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ has achieved a major international feat as it combines the technical prowess of partners based in both the East and West including London - UK, Los Angeles - USA, South India and from China, making the film a truly international venture. Apart from this, the music of the film has been composed by Oscar winner Rahman whereas the sound recording has been done by Resul Pookutty, another Oscar winner, which has made this event one of the most anticipated event of the year.
