Dancing sensation Suhani Dhanki

Leaving everyone spell bound emerging dancing sensation Suhani Dhanki entices Mumbai with her graceful  performs at Y. B. Chavan Centre as a part of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)

‘Dance is Life’… This holds true for upcoming dancing talent Suhani Dhanki, a trained Bharatnatyam dancer who is fast emerging as a known face both nationally and internationally. She recently performed at a dance recital in Mumbai.

Holding a masters degree in Bharatanatyam with a distinction and gold medal from Bharata College of Fine Arts & Culture and a degree in LLB from the Mumbai University, taking up this dance form was a deliberate choice for Suhani.

Talking about Suhani love for dance she said with pride, “When I watched my guru dance and her commitment to the art, I knew that this was the dance form for me. I learnt Kathak but Bharatnatyam is the closest to my heart and will always remain so.”

Dancing for the last 15 years, she takes inspiration from her guru her interest and dedication was inspired from her guru.  In a typical guru - shishya relationship, Suhani has not just imbibed dance lessons from her guru but also a form of tradition that she is extremely proud of.

Suhani performed live at the Y. B. Chavan Centre as a part of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) where she beautifully presented 'Shivaarchana', composed and choreographed by her guru Dr Sanddhya V Pureccha in traditional Bharatanatyam of the Tanjavur style. She also performed Abhinaya Pada from the Marathi Nirupana of Raja Sarfoji II of Tanjore, choreographed by the legendary late Acharya Parvatikumar. The highlight of the show was her performance onstage to live music. Noted artists like Dr Sanddhya V Pureccha on nattvangam, Sivaprasad on vocals, Satish Krishnamurthy on mridangam and S R Balasubramaniam on violin, all made her performance memorable.

Mumbai being a city that eagerly adopts all forms of art has a wonderful audience for this non native form of dance who appreciated and further encouraged her performance. Currently pursuing her Masters in Fine Arts from the Bharata College of Arts and Culture, Mumbai Suhani is also looking forward to quite a few performances later this month. This talented girl has also recently played the character of Madri in the telly saga Mahabharata. 

“DEITY” YRF Entertainment’s Next Will Be A Remake of KAHAANI

YRF Entertainment will remake the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Sujoy Ghosh directed and Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani, for Western and international audiences as “DEITY”.

“DEITY” will be directed by Niels Arden Oplev (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”). Jose Rivera (“The Motorcycle Diaries”) and Richard Regen (“Tehran”) have scripted the adaptation.

The movie is a thriller about an American woman who goes to Kolkata in search of her missing husband. As she gets closer to the truth, she finds herself at the centre of a dangerous conspiracy.  The story unfolds in the context of a colourful, week-long festival.

An excited Sujoy Ghosh said, “It's an incredible step by YRF. Years back Aditya Chopra had said he wanted to make ‘Kahaani’ for a global audience… I thought he was kidding. But obviously not. YRF has left no stone unturned on making the English version. The new script by Jose Rivera and Richard Regen is perfectly suited for the Western audience and what I am really looking forward is to see Niels direct this version. I am sure he will bring a unique vision to the Western version. I am totally excited about this!”

“DEITY” will be financed and produced by YRF Entertainment, with CEO Uday Chopra serving as Producer and Jonathan Reiman, Head of Production & Development, serving as Executive Producer.

“DEITY will be a compelling and exciting thriller with complex and interesting characters”, says Niels Arden Oplev. “A neo-realistic style to story and images will take the audience deep into Calcutta’s many different levels. A fascinating clash between American and Indian culture”.

“DEITY” starts production in February 2015 and will be shot on location in Kolkata.

YRF Entertainment recently financed Cannes-opener GRACE OF MONACO, starring Nicole Kidman, which it produced with Pierre-Ange le Pogam’s Stone Angels and Arash Amel. YRF’s upcoming projects include Amel’s adaptation of Chris Greenhalgh’s novel, SEDUCING INGRID BERGMAN.

Rohan Shrestha to learn underwater photography-cinematography in Indonesia

Ace lensman Rohan Shrestha, who is known for his Bollywood as well as fashion and nature photography, will soon add another feather to his cap. This young photographer is gearing up for a trip to Indonesia to study underwater photography.

Underwater photography is quite tough and requires immense skill and talent and is usually done with specialized equipment and techniques. 

Once he learns it, Rohan will be the youngest underwater photographer in India. Rohan says, “Apart from me, there are just two underwater photographers in India. I had always wanted to learn underwater photography-cinematography and I am quite excited at this opportunity.”

The trailer of Disney India & Anil Kapoor Film Company's Khoobsurat creates a splash

Disney India & Anil Kapoor Film Company launched the theatrical trailer of the highly awaited Khoobsurat, the country’s first official romance from the house of Disney.

Starring Disney Girl and international fashion icon Sonam Kapoor and introducing Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan , Khoobsurat gives the country, its first modern-day-fairytale , bringing together a prince and a royal misfit against the backdrop of a picturesque setting.

The trailer gave glimpses of what promises to be a refreshing, feel-good, family entertainer. Infact, as soon as it was launched, it created a Khoobsurat splash on the social media front.
