They were the prime contenders but they couldn’t make it to the next round and this was our way of encouraging them.”
Mika who is one of the successful singers in Bollywood also runs an NGO – Divine Touch, which takes care of girl child. The singer was questioned about his interest in charity and his NGO, he said, “For the last 15 years, I have been doing some social work but four years ago I decided to start a NGO to help girls who are poor, cannot afford education or have problems during marriage. I contribute 10 per cent of my earnings to the organization. The special partnership allows students to begin coursework in India and finish in America.
The National Management School has partnered with Broward College and University of South Florida to offer an American Associate degree and an American Bachelor's degree to students from India.
In the “2+2” program, students will study the first two years in India at The National Management School, an international center of Broward College. On successful completion of the 2 years, students will earn the Associate Degree from Broward College in Florida. With this Associate Degree, students can transfer to ANY US University for the balance 2 years of a Bachelor's Degree.
The agreement that NMS has finalized with University of South Florida enables the students with the Associate Degree to seamlessly move to USF to complete the Bachelor's degree. The first cohort of students to take advantage of this partnership will earn degrees in business.
Students will earn an Associate of Arts degree through The National Management School, with 36 credits in general education and 24 elective credits. The second half of the program will be taught by world-class faculty at the University of South Florida's College of Business. Students will study at USF in Tampa, completing the program and obtaining their bachelor's degree from USF.
Students will be able to pursue a general business degree or major in accounting, advertising, economics, finance, management, marketing, information systems, or international business. The transfer to USF will work through the University Transfer Pathway Program, which will give Indian students a clear pathway to their final bachelor's degree at USF. While the partnership is beginning in USF's College of Business, the agreement covers other disciplines, such as engineering, the sciences, and several areas in the liberal arts.
“This program is a huge advantage for Indian students interested in an American bachelor's degree, because they would spend the first two years of their program in India before going to USF in Tampa -- saving 35 percent of the cost of an American bachelor's degree through the University Transfer Pathway Program to USF,” said Dr. Sankaran P. Raghunathan, the Dean of The National Management School. “Students also feel confident because they have a conditional admission into a foreign university when they enroll in our program.”
The program is delivered in Mumbai at the West Campus by The National Management School. The West Campus is located conveniently on Linking Road in the prime neighborhood of Khar (West).
USF College of Business Dean Dr. Moez Limayem said, “We are constantly talking to our students about the value of a global education. This program offers a truly global experience to students in India, offering them the quality and depth of an American business degree while allowing them to complete part of the degree in their home country.”
Dr. David Moore, Associate Vice President of Broward College said, “The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has approved the Broward College International Center in India to offer the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree as an extension of Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Courses earned through this program at the National Management School are generated on a Broward College transcript and students completing the program receive a degree from Broward College in Florida. The College supports the NMS center by providing course content and approves all faculty teaching in the system. The same admissions procedures are used for students entering the program as in Florida.”
Dr. Moore further said, “Broward College is a pioneer and leader among US colleges in the area of international education. Since 1986, BC has been providing educational opportunities for students who live outside of the USA to pursue their academic goals and dreams. Now, students in India can take advantage of this opportunity by becoming a Broward College student and completing the first two years of a four-year bachelor's degree at home in India. We could not be more excited or proud to help students in India fulfill their educational ambitions.”
On the eve of the inauguration of the AA Program, and the announcement of the UTPP Program, United States Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Thomas Vajda said, “Top leaders in the United States and India have singled out education as a priority area of collaboration between our two nations. With more than 113,000 Indian students currently studying in the United States, and an increasing number of U.S. students choosing to study abroad here in India, this  innovative program demonstrates how our countries can work together to help students meet their educational goals.”
