BHAMLA FOUNDATION COMMEMORATES & CELEBRATES VAN MAHOTSAV WEEK 2016 (July 1 – July 7)
Every year the Van Mahotsav Week is celebrated in India from 1st of July till the 7th of July. Also known as Forest Day. It was initiated in 1950 by then Union Minister for Agriculture and Food, K.M. Munshi to create an enthusiasm and awareness among the Indian Masses for conservation of Forests and Plantation of Trees.
The original aim of the Van Mahotsav Week is to get Every Citizen of India to plant a sapling during this week!! The Mahotsav gets ample of participation from different states and every year millions of saplings are planted.
This year too the Van Mahotsav has been met with fervor and enthusiasm and Bhamla Foundation which is at the helm of promoting environment conservation and consciousness in Bandra through their yearly event – UNEP’s World Environment Day on 5th of June has taken the lead in Mumbai with a successful tree plantation campaign today (1st June 2016) at Anjuman Islam Girls School & Junior College (Bandra W).
The sapling plantation activity was conducted by Shri Asif Bhamla (President of Bhamla Foundation), Aijaz Khan (ex Big Boss Contestant and Celebrity) and Mrs. Saba Patel (Principal Anjuman Islam Girls School & Junior College) along with a whole lot of students, enthusiasts and social workers who are active in Preservation and Protection of the Environment.

Children are extremely receptive. 2 years ago ,actor, singer and artist Ali Zafar had
brought together 50 of Pakistan’s most loved personalities for a music video
“Urainge Us Aasman Mein',that pays tribute to the Peshawar school massacre
victims.On December 16 2014, Taliban gunmen stormed a military-run school in
Peshawar, leading to the loss of 141 lives, most of them children.
The star pledged
to build 141 schools ,as many number of official deaths of children that day
.Ali collaborated with a leading Pakistani educational non-profit organization,
The Citizens Foundation (TCF) and 141schools.org(141 SCHOOLS), a new citizen
web movement. Together, they are building 141 schools across Pakistan. Each
school will be dedicated to the children and teachers who lost their lives in
attack on the 16th of December 2014.
All proceeds from the downloads of his song are going towards
building schools for the children of Pakistan and ensuring a bright future.
Recently Ali also posted the royalty
cheque of people who have downloaded the song online, as his medium of thanking
fans,testimony to the fact that his pledge is definitely top priority despite
his choc-o-bloc schedule.
