KAREENA KAPOOR & DEEPIKA PADUKONE WIN BIG AT THE PREMIERE EDITION OF LUX GOLDEN ROSE AWARDS CONCLUDING IT ON A HIGH NOTE

Today, the premiere edition of the Lux Golden Rose Awards, held at Reliance Studios, Film City in Mumbai, witnessed the most enthralling showcase of entertainment. Hosted by iconic Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor, the event unfolded with great flair. The film fraternity which turned out to support the leading ladies of Bollywood applauded their sense of humor all throughout the night, cracking up at their jokes and gimmicks.The star-studded event, celebrated and recognized the grace, style and glamour of Bollywood’s most timeless beauties. Fans and connoisseurs of Indian films were abuzz with anticipation for this new step which honors Bollywood actresses for portraying versatility with zest. The nominees in the various categories were determined by a panel of established personalities from within the film industry which included Falguni and Shane Peacock, Malaika Arora Khan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mickey Contractor, Shiamak Davar and Neeta Lulla.The award ceremony was a grand success graced by some of the most prominent personalities in the industry. The red carpet was ablaze with the crème de la crème of the industry adorned in their finest including Sharmila Tagore, Sri Devi, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Jaqueline Fernandez, Shahid Kapoor and many more. The maiden voyayge of the Lux Golden Rose Awards shone with electrifying star performances from Jacqueline Fernandez, Sushant Singh Rajput, Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor.The Lux Golden Rose Awards have truly paved the way for a larger than life celebration of the women in Bollywood.

Raveena Tandon to turn book-author

Ravishing Raveena Tandon, otherwise an altruistic social-worker, whose passion is child-welfare will add yet another feather to her career crown, that of a ‘book author’.Confirming this new literary dimension, the star-actress in a cryptic mode, said “My book which I will soon be focusing on, is neither a biography nor is it fiction.” Since Children’s Day is being observed today, Raveena strolls into a flashback recalling how she would be watching symbolic cultural shows on ‘C-Day.’ “We would be more excited because we would have a holiday dedicated to us little kids, on Chacha Nehru’s birth anniversary,” she chuckles.Today’s super-confident kids are fortunate that they are tech-savvy right from a very tender age, she feels. The outspoken Tandon, has been judging an educational initiative, by the Seven Seas Academy. “A nationwide contest hunt for India’s young masterminds, to promote the prime importance of health supplements for vital brain development among children. It’s so heartening that two winners are being sponsored for an educational trip to ‘NASA’,” says the ‘mast-mast’ girl gleefully. “Even when I was going thru a major personal crisis, decades ago, I used to often spend quality time with kids at an orphanage home. It was unconditional love that they would always give me in return,” insists Raveena who had adopted two young girls (actually nieces) whose parents hadpassed away, when they were young. Currently, the evergreen actress is “waiting for the release of the hard-hitting, bold movie ‘The Mother’ directed by Ashtar Sayyed, which has violence against women as its theme”.

MACAO HOSTS IT 1ST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL & AWARDS

Macao Government Tourism Office gladly announces its 1^st International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao (IFFAM). The festival would entail the twelve Asian genre film directors and their chosen genre favourites for the Crossfire section of the official programme. Crossfire is a non-competitive section introducing the festival audience to influential genre titles from Europe and South Asia. 

The 1st International Film Festival & Awards would be held in Macao from Thursday 8 December – Tuesday 13 December 2016. Amongst glitz and glamour, Macao will witness industry world over coming together to celebrate the film festival. The acclaimed director SHEKHAR KAPUR will serve as Jury President at the inaugural festival.

Kapur will preside over the Jury of other film professionals; together bestowing awards on the competition strand of 10 to 12 new international films. He adds IFFAM Jury President to a list of jury positions at prestigious festivals including the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, the London Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival, as well as a sponsor role with the International Indian Film Festival in Goa.  

On the announcement of his appointment, Kapur comments, “This is Asia’s time. Over the past few years, consumerism has catapulted the Asian market into international renown, but what we are now experiencing is the renaissance of culture as inspired by the Asian communities. As an Indian director, I’m excited to be chairing the Macau Film Festival as Indian storytelling has so much in common with Chinese forms of storytelling. Hopefully these new forms of storytelling will bring the world to a better understanding of itself.”

With these awards the film and television industry creates a strong momentum for local tourism development and effectively builds up a destination’s colorful image. Not only that, the industry also fosters tourism growths and raises the destination profile. Hosting an international film festival, Macao hopes that the event gather film works across the globe as well as prominent actors and film stars from around the world, thus bringing in world-class exchange opportunities and unleashing a synergistic effect through advancing local cultural and creative industry development and Macao’s destination glamour. 

Through the film festival, the SAR Government also aims to broaden the diversity of tourism and cultural products as well as signature events, enriching the cultural elements offered by the destination, in order to produce long-term benefit for the sustainable development of the tourism industry and the creative and cultural industry, which will promote Macao’s endeavor to become a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
