Sony Pictures Networks Productions announces ‘Poster Boys’ featuring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade

Directed by Shreyas Talpade Poster Boys is the official remake of a Marathi film by the same name
Sony Pictures Networks Productions (formerly MSM Motion Pictures), a division of Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt. Ltd. (SPN), announced their next film on The Kapil Sharma Show. The studio that brought you Piku, will now bring to the audiences another content driven film, Poster Boys.
The film stars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade playing 3 central characters whose lives turn upside-down after a big blunder. They find themselves stuck in an awkward situation, so complicated that they find it difficult to explain even to their own families. This light-hearted drama will see the trio dealing with unforeseen circumstances, essaying roles that they have never done before in their lives. Also for the first time, Sunny and Bobby will not be seen as brothers on-screen.
While Kapil’s show is often a preferred platform for movie promotions around the release, the studio took an innovative route to announce their next on the sets of this show.
Poster Boys (in Marathi) was a winner at the box office and was one of the biggest openers of Marathi cinema in 2014. The original film was produced by Shreyas Talpade in which he had powerful cameo. With the official remake of Poster Boys he also makes his directorial debut.
Poster Boys is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd and Affluence Movies Pvt Ltd.
Comments:
Sneha Rajani, Dy President & Head, Sony Pictures Networks Productions
As a studio, we believe in content- driven stories that will be loved by the audiences. Poster Boys is one such film. I am confident that Shreyas in his directorial debut will do justice to this outstanding script. The biggest highlight is the casting of this film as both, Sunny and Bobby are playing roles which is a first for them in their respective careers.
Sunny Deol, Actor, Producer
"We loved the concept of Poster Boys when Shreyas shared the script with us. I have known Shreyas for a while now and relate to his sensibilities. The way he is bringing the character and story alive is very engaging. This film is just a beginning of our association with Sony Pictures Networks Productions and I am sure that it will go a long way forward."
Shreyas Talpade, Director, Actor

“I am not sure if I had thought I would ever direct and not in my wildest dreams did I think that in my directorial debut I would be directing a legend, Sunny Deol, who I grew up watching. This shift is very exciting and I am overwhelmed with the fact that Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Sunny Sounds Pvt LTD have shown this faith in me.”

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY EYEING $280M-$350M WORLDWIDE OPENING

According to recent projections, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to rock the global box office by potentially making upwards of $300M in a five-day period.
From Deadline:
Yeah, yeah, we already know Rogue One‘s opening isn’t going to be as high as Force Awakens a year ago, which pulled in an all-time global debut of $528.97M. Episode VII was propped by pent-up demand, and the latest film is a spinoff. Still, Rogue One with a frosh dramatis personae will kick off pretty damn high with a worldwide start over five days between $280M-$350M.
In the U.S./Canada, industry projections currently lie between $140M-$150M in 4,100-plus sites, with a heavier interest among men than women. Still the notion among distribution chiefs is that the latter sex will come along for the want-to-see in the days following the pic’s release. By comparison, Force Awakens opened in 4,134 locations. 400 Imax theaters will have the Gareth Edwards-directed Rogue One for four weeks around the globe. Of its theater count, Rogue One is comprised of 500 Premium Large Format screens (the largest PLF footprint ever for any release), 3,500+ 3D screens and nearly 200 D-Box locations. Even if Rogue One comes in lower, just over $100M, it would still rank as the second-best opening this winter month has ever seen since Force Awakens’ $247.96M all-time three-day.
Foreign opening projections for Rogue One are looking north of $140M, but there is consensus among non-Disney analysts it could be as high as $200M, which on average is a 25% difference from Force Awakens‘ $281M start.
If the film is able to make over $300M worldwide in its first few days of release, it will be the twentieth movie to accomplish that feat and the third one to do it in 2016 (with the other two movies being the superhero epics Batman Versus Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Captain America: Civil War). Aside from the United States and Canada, notable regions where the film opens in the same window include France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, Germany, Brazil, India, Mexico, Italy, Spain, and Japan. South Korea and China are among the few regions where the film will open up later, in part to avoid local competition (and in the case of the latter country, a blackout on foreign films for the entire month of December).
While those projections might seem a little bit low for a Star Wars movie made in this day and age, bear in mind that there was a time when The Force Awakens was projected to open with a $175M domestic haul (which, while about $73M short of the actual result, still would have been a record-breaking opening). Not to mention that only two and a half weeks ago, projections placed Rogue One at a $130M opening – a $20M increase in expectations in that short a time span suggests that tracking is rising. If the trends hold true to audience attendance, then the opening might surpass these expectations. There are still room for surprises, and given that Rogue One lacks significant competition for much of its release window, it’s likely to have some fairly strong legs at the box office.

Stay tuned for a follow-up article that will discuss the likelihood of whether or not Rogue One could push Disney’s annual box office returns past the $3B mark.

RAKESH-HRITHIK: a lethal father-son combination

Strap: The Roshans are the only father-son team that has ruled Bollywood for 16 years at a stretch
Actors and filmmakers have often become synonymous with quality. Some others have been synonymous with box office magic.  But rarely do you come across a team that has hit a sixer everytime they have come together.
Maker of several blockbusters, Rakesh Roshan and his superstar son Hrithik Roshan are one such lethal combination.
Roshan senior and HR's journey began 16 years ago, in January 2000 to be precise with Kaho Na pyaar Hai.  Not only did the film rewrite box office history, it also went on to feature in the Limca Book of Records as the film that picked up the maximum number of awards.
From there on, this team has rewritten ticket sale records several times over.  Whether it is Koi Mil Gaya or their Krrish franchise, they have grown from strength to strength in the last decade and a half.
And now as they stand on the treshold of Kaabil, their January 25, 2017 film, there is a palpable sense of excitement in the trade.
Says Rakesh Roshan, who has produced Kaabil directed by Sanjay Gupta, ``Hrithik and I work as a team because on set both of us are professionals.  We are fully aware of the father-son equation at all times.  But, the beauty of our combination is that when it comes to a film, we are so persceptive and aligned in our thought process that it almost, always works for the betterment of our film.  Take Kaabil for instance.  Everytime there was a dilemma, I found Hrithik and I were thinking on similar lines.  even our director Sanjay Gupta was in alignment with us.''
Talking of why he loves working with his son, the filmmaker adds, ``Hrithik has worked as an assistant on my films before he became my lead actor. He therefore knows my cinema as well as I do. Another point I must make is that he is one of the most disciplined and talented actors I have worked with.  Naturally I have now grown dependent on him for all my movies.  Here again, let me tell you this is not so much a personal thing.  It is also a professional thing because as I said, as father and son, we have consistently proved that our combination works as much at home as it does at the box-office.''
