Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Emmanuel Lubezki, Jason Reitman and Ken Watanabe to present Oscar nominations

As the award seasons fever grips the world, India too is looking forward for the upcoming 89TH Academy Awards on February 27th 2017. A few weeks ago, the Academy announced that late night host Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting one of the most coveted award ceremonies this year. As we look forward for the upcoming nominations, fans are getting excited as they seek to see if their favourite films and stars will be nominated this year.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the nominations for the Academy Awards will be hosted by previous Oscar winners and nominees Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Emmanuel Lubezki, Jason Reitman and Ken Watanabe who will join Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in presenting the names this year. Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the movie- Dreamgirls. Brie Larson last year earned the Best Actress Award for the movie- Room, Emmanuel Lubezki is a three time Academy Award winner for Best Cinematography, Jason Reitman and Ken Watanabe have been Academy Award nominees previously,

This 2017 on January 24th, the AMPAS will finally tell the audience who have been waiting with bated breath the nominations for the year. The Academy Awards this year will be having a more digital approach to it with fans being able to watch the nomination special by using a global live stream on the Academy’s official website as well, a change from the previous presentation at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theatre. Star Movies will once again be broadcasting the spectacular Oscar Awards night and the Nominations special as well on January 24th morning.

LA LA LAND: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK SURGES TO #1

Interscope Records’ La La Land: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack — which features songs from the original musical film, La La Land, from Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label and starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling — has leapt to #1 in pure album sales and #2 overall on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. In addition, the album comes in at No. #2 this week overall with over 42,000 album equivalent units.

The massive surge comes the week following the 2017 Golden Globe Awards where the film, which was written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, took home a record-breaking seven awards, winning in each category in which it was nominated, including best musical/comedy film. The composer Justin Hurwitz won for “Best Score,” as well as “Best Original Song” with lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for "City of Stars."

The La La Land film soundtrack and score has earned raves reviews, with Entertainment Weekly noting that “composer Justin Hurwitz’s songs (especially the dewy ‘City of Stars’) have both an intimacy and an occasional irony that act as counterweights to all of the razzle-dazzle we’re taking in with our eyes.” GQ called the film “gorgeous, romantic, and unabashedly sentimental,” while Rolling Stone called it “sheer perfection” and “the movie of the year.”
