Eros International gears up for a hat trick with ‘Posto’

Eros International Media Ltd, India’s leading global company in the Indian film industry, reunited with director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, makers of two consecutive Bengali super hits—Belaseshe and Praktan—to announce their upcoming Bengali family drama Posto slated to release on May 12, 2017. 

Starring Padma Bhushan awardee Soumitra Chatterjee, Lily Chakraborty, Jisshu Sengupta, Mimi Chakraborty, Paran Bandopadhyay among others, Posto (a regular delicacy at any Bengali household), is a contemporary film based on the intricacies of human relationships that centres around a 7-year-old boy. Multi-talented musicians—Anupam Roy, Anindya Chatterjee and Upal Sengupta—have come together to create music for this film.  

Anticipating the story of Posto built around modern day parenting and co-parenting, will resonate with audiences across the country, Eros is targeting an approximate 100 screen release nationally (outside of Kolkata), including newer markets, a first for any Bengali film. The company also has plans to release the film widely overseas as well. 

Commenting on the biggest Bengali film release, Nandu Ahuja, Senior VP, India Theatrical, Eros International said, “Our partnership with Windows has been successful over the years with consecutive blockbusters like Belaseshe & Praktan; with each of these films we have scaled up the release with growing audience base for regional cinema. Director Shiboprosad Mukherjee added, “We are excited with the release plan of the film as this would really be a path breaking stance for Bengali cinema. We hope to go a long way together with Eros and make good cinema for the audience going beyond language and boundaries”..

Gashmeer Mahajani travels 5 countries for film shoot in two years

Gashmeer Mahajani became a household name with his debut Marathi film Carry on Maratha followed by another interesting project, Deolband released in the year 2015. 

The new heartthrob of Marathi cinema who has worked on four films in a two year span is considered as the only star of his generation to shoot at five different foreign locations including Italy, France, Spain, Slovenia and Switzerland. 

While Gashmeer shot in Italy, France and Spain for Amit Shetge’s One Way Ticket, he shot for veteran actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar’s forthcoming movie Rubik’s Cube across Slovenia, Switzerland and Italy. 

A source informs, “For someone who started his film career just two years back, it’s nothing less than a big achievement to shoot across five different countries. No actor of Gashmeer’s league has acheieved that! Gashmeer lived approximately for a week in each country during shooting the films and explored the exotic destinations.”  

Gashmeer informs, “The city of Piran in Slovenia and the city of Baard in Italy were two of my favourites. Piran was by the sea and we were put up in a hotel bang opposite the beach. After pack up, I used to walk by the beach daily and sit in a shack looking at a glittering skyline of Slovenia stretched across on the other end of the sea! Also Baard in Italy has maintained its heritage so well. Walking through it’s by lanes during shoots frequently reminded me of the beautiful Sicilian towns shown in the Hollywood classic, Godfather.”

Kareena Kapoor’s hairstylist Pompy to make his acting debut in Vikram Fadnis’ Hrudayantar

Kareena Kapoor’s hairstylist Pompy will be making his acting debut with Vikram Phadnis’ Marathi film, Hrudayantar.Produced by Vikram Phadnis Productions, Young Berry Entertainment (Pratap Sarnaik and his son Purvesh Sarnaik) and directed by Vikram, Hrudayantar is an emotional drama featuring Mukta Barve, Subodh Bhave and Sonali Khare.Pompy, who has been working with Kareena for almost a decade now, has not just designed the actors' look in Hrudayantar but have also acted in a Marathi film for the first time.A source says, “Pompy and Vikram shares a good rapport as friends since long time. When Vikram asked him to design his film’s look, he immediately agreed. The character Pompy plays in the film is a humorous one and he played his part well, much to Vikram’s surprise.” 

Produced by Vikram Phadnis Productions, Young Berry Entertainment (Pratap Sarnaik and his son Purvesh Sarnaik) and directed by Vikram, Hrudayantar is scheduled to release on 9th June, 2017!

MS VASVI BHARAT RAM TAKES OVER AS THE NEW NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF FICCI LADIES ORGANISATION (FLO)

Ms Vasvi Bharat Ram  took over as the President of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the oldest women business chamber of Southeast Asia and the women’s wing of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & industry (FICCI) at the conclusion of its 33rd  Annual Session on April 14th, 2017. 

An entrepreneur herself, Ms Bharat Ram is the Joint Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee of The Shri Ram School and a member of Shri Educare Limited. Both these entities set up and run quality education institutions both in India and abroad. After completing her education in England, Vasvi returned to India and started her own business in wrought iron furniture. In a short period she grew the business into a successful enterprise. 

Ms Bharat Ram’s diligent approach to business and her conscientious initiatives towards the society has been a testimony of her Leadership skills and traits. A multifaceted personality, Ms Bharat Ram been associated with several Industry bodies, trade and women’s welfare organizations. 

Vasvi has also been the Chairperson of Young FICCI Ladies Organization and is currently on the board of the Young Presidents Organization and has played an instrumental role in enhancing the presence and reach of YFLO Delhi. She spends most of her time in her academic interests and in bringing up her  Children. 

Development of entrepreneurship among women has been central to FLO’s philosophy and mission. Taking this vision forward, Ms Vasvi’s focus during her tenure would be to increase women’s participation in the process of economic development and to create a pool of resources, by skilling them at Grassroots, middle & senior level.

With India entering into its next phase of growth, it is expected to add 110 million people to its workforce in the next ten years’, including youth and women. According to a study conducted by McKinsey Global Institute in 2015, if India can increase women’s labor force participation by 10 percentage points (68 million more women) by 2025, India could increase its GDP by 16 Per Cent .” said Ms Ms Vasvi Bharat Ram , President , FICCI Ladies Organisation  (FLO) 

“This, however is an uphill task if we go by the current statistics of participation of Indian women in its workforce. On the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index, the ranking of Indian women in economic empowerment is 0.3, where 1.0 means equality.”she said . 

“Keeping these trends into consideration, FLO will continue to work towards the inclusion of more women in the workforce through skilling initiatives in the fields of telecom, transport and e-commerce, initiatives for grassroots women, providing support to women entrepreneurs’ through Swayam which is our business consultancy cell, conducting directorship training and helping place women on Corporate Boards through the FLO Women Directors program. We will also expand and strengthen our initiatives to compliment Government programs like Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Make in India.” Ms Bharat Ram added 

“We intend to work towards a more inclusive future and hope that our efforts will lead to effective and informed policy solutions that will empower women, make a positive impact and change many lives.” She said. 

Besides, Ms Aparna (Pinky) Reddy has taken over as the new Sr Vice President and Ms Harjinder Kaur has been elected as the FLO’s Vice President for the year 2017-18.
