People told me how much they hate me, after Mom: Vikas Verma on playing Charles in the revenge drama

After playing a negative role in both Shandaar and Yariyaan, actor Vikas Verma played a dark character in the recently released Mom as well. Talking about his fascination for negative characters, Vikas says that he opts for them as they give him a chance to showcase his acting abilities on screen. “It’s not that I am fascinated with a negative image but I love doing something which is more challenging and out of the box. It’s very difficult to make people hate you…like literally hate you. The satisfaction you get out of doing challenging things is immeasurable,” he says.
The actor played the role of Charles in the Sridevi starrer, which was directed by debutante director Ravi Udyawar. Talking about his experience of shooting the film, Vikas says, “Not even at one point did I feel like that Ravi sir was a first time director. His story telling is beyond perfect and talking about direction, it’s evident from the film that what a great job he has done. As for my role, I got many calls from my friends and family saying, ‘Charles, I hate you so so much. Why would you do that to that little girl’  and,  ’You deserved that from Sridevi’ and many hateful comments like that for my character. This means I acted well,” he says.
All three films have been close to Vikas’ heart. “These three films will be always special to me and close to my heart. Every film gave me a different experience, some unforgettable moments and beautiful memories to cherish forever. Like in Yaariyan, all of us bonded really well on the sets and shared a great rapport with each other. Shaandar was a totally different experience altogether. I got the opportunity to work with super talented actors of the industry like Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj sir, Sanjay sir. And talking about Mom, this film will always remain close to my heart. Working with Sridevi ma’am was like a dream come true. She is a superstar and there is a lot that you can learn from her,” he says.
Another thing that comes to mind when you meet Vikas is his well maintained physique. Ask him his secret and he says, “The mantra is very simple…early to bed and early to rise, keep exercising regularly and eat healthy.”

Although it is hard to imagine, Vikas also nurses a fear of heights, which often poses as a challenge. “I am very scared of heights. Only I know how difficult it was for me in Yaariyaan to shoot mountain and cycling scenes. I was really scared but I took it as a challenge and did it,” he says.

Siddharth Kumar Tewary's Mahakaali Anth Hi Aarambh Hai tops charts with phenomenal ratings

A perfect blend of mythology and drama, wrapped up in a compelling storyline, Siddharth Kumar Tewary's Mahakaali Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, has made its makers proud. The costume drama, which airs every Saturday-Sunday at 7.00 pm on Colors, has topped the rating charts among the fiction shows this week.
"It's really exciting to see such numbers in today’s times and all of us are having a blast. All we wanted is to give our best and that people should like our work. The response that we received has humbled us and we are even more charged up to deliver our best. Goddess Mahakaali has a deep purpose, she didn’t take form just to annihilate the demons, there was a message to the story and I believe that message has worked for us. The show is based on the thought that every woman has the power to fight her own battles. She can be Parvati, who is known to be a giver of life and can even become Kaali if situations force her. She has the power to end evil and make a new beginning," says Siddharth.
Talking about the compliments he has got for the show, Siddharth adds that the high relevance of the show is the biggest one."I have received a lot of compliments for the show since the beginning. People have loved actors Pooja and Saurabh. Both of them are my friends and I really love them. Some have told me they got goose bumps when they saw the transformation of Parvati to Kaali. But for me, the best so far, has been when a person told me that the show is so relevant. Actually that’s the core reason behind all mythological stories, whether it’s the Mahabharat or Ramayan or Shani, every story was written for a purpose and had a deeper meaning behind it," he says.

Lead actor Pooja, who also played Drupadi in Mahabharat and is now playing Parvati and Mahakaali, is thrilled with the phenomenal response. "Mahakaali humare saath Hai. This show is our labour of love. And I am happy and thrilled that the show is resonating with the audiences," she says.
