Praveish
Vishwanath, Professor of BMM (Bachelors of Mass Media) with the students of
FYBMM and SYBMM within a span of 1 week put up a superb presentation of the
Indian Film Industry under the tag #MediCine – contribution of Indian Cinema in
her 100 years towards Healthcare. he
occasion was graced by Ms. Priya Dutt Former Member of Parliament, daughter of
legendary actors Mr. Sunil Dutt and Mrs. Nargis Dutt and Trustee - Nargis Dutt
Foundation.
Focusing
on the first Power Couple of Indian Cinema - Mr. Sunil Dutt and Mrs. Nargis
Dutt, the event was a tribute to the films they were a part of the way the
cinema industry has highlighted health issues and the evolution on cinema in
general starting from the black and white era of 1930’s showcasing clipping of
films like Dr.Madhurika (1935) till the iconic Munna Bhai MBBS (2003).The
event focused on #MediCine which highlighted the contribution of Indian Cinema
in her 100 years towards health care.
Talking
on the occasion Ms. Priya Dutt says, “It was a great event hosted by Professor
Praveish Vishwanath and the students. The connection made between medicine and
cinema has been fantastic and the couple of hours I sat here, I was
overwhelmed. It was great to see the clipping of my parents and brother (Sanjay
Dutt). I loved the way the students performed the skits and dances. I am very fortunate
to have been a part of this event and feel grateful...”
Adding
to the same Mr. Praveish Vishwanath, “The entire event was multi-layered! It
spoke of Cinema and Films with medical related scripts; it combined the
contribution of the Dutt’s towards cinema and well as healthcare; plus, it was
a tribute to Mehboob Khan on the director extraordinaire birthday 110 today. It
is Mehboob Khan who is instrumental in getting together Nargis Dutt into films
and later bringing Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt together in the iconic film,
‘Mother India.”
