Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Monsoon Shootout to release after four years

Guneet Monga and her production house Sikhya is known for producing content driven films like Masaan, Lunchbox, Haraamkhor and more yet again have come up with another crime thriller film starring Nawazuddin Siddhique, Vijay Varma, and Tannishtha Chatterjee. This film is about a policeman facing a life-altering decision when he must decide to shoot or not. So the film was stuck due to its content and wasn’t finding a decent release to justify the film. It’ was even nominated in Cannes in 2013 and even won the best thriller award in another festival. Nawaz shot for it immediately after Gangs of Wasseypur and the film after a 4-years wait is releasing now. The film is directed by Amit Kumar who earlier made an award-winning short film called Bypass with Nawazuddin and Irrfan Khan. The film after a lot of struggle is now releasing later next month. The producer of the film Guneet Monga said, "Our film has won several awards and had the biggest premiere at Cannes in 2013, perhaps the biggest ever after Devdas. The film is a first one of its kind in its structured storytelling which hasn’t been seen. For almost a year we were traveling to festivals with the film and then we wanted to wait and release the film when we felt the time for the right. We had a successful release of Haraamkhor earlier this year and 2017 has proven to be a year when good content films are being accepted. So we feel now is the best time to release the film."

Now the film is releasing after four years after its premiere. Now the film interestingly will release on the same day as Tiger Zinda Hai. As per sources, Monsoon Shootout will clash with Salman khans film on 22nd which the makers are considering. Interestingly Nawaz has worked twice with Salman in Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan before and was even offered a role in Tiger which he turned down due to date commitments towards Manto and now that it is clashing with TZH, this would be an interesting clash. According to sources, "No other date is available before that. Besides, after December 22 there are no releases for 2 weeks and the makers want to cash in on that. Also, the audience for Salman starrer and Monsoon shootout is completely different, there won't be any clash as such." Monsoon Shootout is a crime thriller film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Verma, Neeraj Kabi and Tannishtha Chatterjee. This film is about a policeman facing a life-altering decision when he must decide to shoot or not.
