Badho Bahu awarded multiple titles at recent award shows

It’s a great time for Dipti Kalwani, producer of Badho Bahu. The show has been awarded multiple awards at the recently held ITA, and she couldn’t be prouder. “We got two ITA awards. One for best story (myself and Pankaj Mavchi) and other for best dialogues (Amitosh Nagpal). Before this, we have got a special award from Zee Rishtey as the best show on another channel.” says Dipti.
Dipti is also the writer of the show and feels that this is the reason behind the show doing so well. “Yes, being a writer and a producer on the same show ensures that the content is well executed. A lot of research goes into doing a sports-based show, one has to ensure that the sport is played with proper rules. Pankaj and I actually sit with our kushti trainer to understand the daanv-pench before we get into writing it. But we love the process as it's enriching and the show is very close to our heart,” she says.
The casting, of course, has also shown its magic on screen, says Dipti. “Rytasha and Prince share great chemistry. I could see a spark when I saw them together in my first audition. They are magic together, I have been really lucky to find them and at the same time. I pat my own back for casting them,” she says.
As for future plans, Dipti plans to bring more such content on screen. “I will produce more shows, I am waiting to tell more stories which come from my heart but am in no rush,” she says.

Babita Phogat makes her acting debut on TV with 'Badho Bahu'

After wrestler Geeta Phogat, who made her small-screen debut with the last season of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', it's her younger sister Babita Kumari Phogat's turn to enter the medium. The three-time Commonwealth Champion will make her acting debut with the daily soap 'Badho Bahu produced by Sunny Side Up (Dipti Kalwani) and Hum Tum Telefilms Teena Swayyam and Sushant Kumar) in which she will play herself.
On the show, she will be pitted against the protagonist (Rytasha Rathore) in a wrestling match. Since the story is set in Haryana, Babita felt at home with the dialect and accent. She says, "I am excited about appearing on 'Badho Bahu'. I liked the concept of a father-in-law encouraging his bahu's talent — it's progressive. Personally, I wouldn't want to give up on wrestling; I strongly believe that a girl shouldn't feel any less than a man and should strive to create a mark for herself."
Incidentally, the makers wanted to feature both Geeta and Babita on the show. However, the former wasn't available because of prior commitments.

Dipti Kalwani said,"I am over the moon and I can't wait to see Babita Phogat and Badho Bahu in the same akhada. It's a dream come true when your inspiration stands in flesh and blood with your character. She inspired me to write the show and it's going to be my most proud moment on the show. I will cherish this moment for my entire life.  I thank Babita Phogat and & tv team for making my dream a reality."
