Christmas means gifts from secret Santas . Our telly actors talk about their secret Santas and what they want from them this year!

Ssharad Malhotraa - My mother has been my secret Santa. She has always given me what I wanted. I require her time as a gift and I am wishing that she comes this Christmas to spend a wwek with me. There can't be a better Santa than a mother who is selfless and always wants to see me happy. 

Vahbbiz Dorabajee - Well, the secret Santa in my life has always been my mother and I think she will continue to be for my life. She is a very thoughtful person and all her gifts are so thoughtful as well, just like her. When we were kids, we used to believe in Santa, it was our mother who always used to make it special for us. Even today anything we need, it's always my mother, who helps out. So she is my secret Santa. 

Vivian Dsena - I think my secret Santa is my mother. She always supported me and guided me in my life and still she is my support system. She helped me through my struggles in life. She is a very positive person and keeps me motivated. This year I want her to cook special Rajasthani food for me.

Rohit Purohit - Well, my father is my secret Santa in my life. He is someone who has always encouraged me to follow my heart. It wasn't easy for me to come to Bombay for my career but my father was the driving force. This year I want a car. 

Sneha Wagh - I don’t have a secret Santa. I would like to visit some fairy tale town, if it’s possible. I wish Santa could fulfill that. 

Rashami Desai - My family has been my secret Santa all my life. My mother used to gift me the things  I wanted like a box of chocolates, earrings of my choice or new pencil box. It always used to make me very happy. I am expecting nothing this year, only good wishes. But a nice designer bag would be welcome.  

Suhani Dhanki - I'm a daddy's girl and my father has been my Secret Santa, always coming to my rescue! Since I moved away after marriage, I'd like a nice dinner date with my daddy this year as my secret santa present! 

Sourabh Raaj Jain - I have many secret santas, not one. I may not have met them ever or even know their names. These are my fans, who on a daily basis make me feel good and bring a smile to my face. This time I would like to give gift to all of them lots of my best wishes and immense love.

Nikhil Sharma ecstatic to be part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain

Actor Nikhil Sharma, who will soon be seen in a cameo role in Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain, is excited to be part of such a hit show. However, the actor adds that with this comes more pressure. “Bagging a role in hit show, comes with great responsibilities. And we have to match the level of the show in our performances. All the actors in the show are fantabulous,” he says, adding, “I had auditioned for the show a long time back, but things had not worked out at the time.”

Talking about his character, he says, “My character is full of drama and surprises, with lots of suspense. It is a very different track in which I am associated with Naira and her friends in past and now I again come back in Naira' s life for some motive.” 

He adds, “To be very honest, I'm playing a negative role after a very long time. My friends are saying that they can't imagine me playing anything negative as my look is so positive. But I want to prove them wrong.” 

He is also thrilled to have got the chance to work with Shahi. “Rajan Ji and I know each other since quite a long time. This is the very first time that I'm working with him. I am very happy to be associated with Director's Kut Production,” he says. 

Both luck and destiny have played a major role in his career, says Nikhil. “I believe in luck as well as destiny. I think they play an important role in my life. I live in the present moment and take everything as a gift of life,” he adds.

Karan Oberoi has his own reasons for re-creating the classics

Karan Oberoi, who has been the part of Band of Boys, always brought something fresh and different for the audience. But, this time he went against the tide to recreate the cult classics of 70s and 80s, instead of experimenting on something original.Karan is busy remoulding and recreating the Bollywood chartbusters for his album ‘Retronica’. Collaborating with Saregama, he worked on tunes like ‘Chaundvin ka chand’ and ‘Raat Kaali’. Though the recent release- ‘Aane Wala Pal’-won thousands of hearts, yet somewhere people missed the magic that he originally created in songs like Challa, Gori, Meri Neend etc. Well, we can’t just blame him for everything as it has become a trend in Bollywood to remix and recreate the Bollywood hits. But the question is, why are we not ready to experiment?Explaining his perspective, Karan Oberoi, the lead vocalist, said, “The reason for creating old songs has also got to do with the huge appetite people have for these classics. Since most people are looking for quick fixes to get an audience connected, that too without spending much money, effort or time,  It seems like a sure shot, a shortcut in fact.”Yet, Karan finds it inappropriate for the big budget movies to pave the easy way as they are full of resources, opportunities and time. “I don’t understand why big budget films need to resort to these gimmicks because they have the time money and resources to create and market original compositions. As far as indie musicians like me are concerned, we are only doing it for two reasons.”“Either I love the song so much that I want to express it in my own inimitable way or I don’t have the resources, marketing connect or muscle to push my original songs to the audience. Even digital curation on social media costs is becoming prohibitive now. Amidst all this, I don’t want to satisfy my false sense of ego by buying fake likes or views,” he mentioned further.Karan went on to say, “That’s the reason I try and curate an audience that likes me as an artist by using these songs as a springboard, and then when I have built up some semblance of a viewership, I will expose them to my original compositions once again.”No matter how many years went by, we still crave to soothe our ears with those melodious tunes by Karan. 

ARIJIT SINGH KICK-STARTED HIS FIRST EVER INDIA TOUR WITH A BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE IN KOLKATA

Singing sensation Arijit Singh wooed the audiences in Kolkata as he kick-started his 1st ever India tour at New Town Eco Park, Kolkata. On Christmas Eve, Royal Stag Mega Music Arijit Singh MTV India Tour Produced by Wizcraft marked its footprint with The City Of Joy, Kolkata. The concert series, an initiative of GiMA Concerts, began on Arijit’s home-turf, Kolkata and will now be held across major cities right up till March 2018. Kolkata witnessed a spectacular evening that featured Arijit Singh’s biggest hits such as ‘Kabira’, ‘Channa Mereya’, ‘Ilahi’ among others and a medley of Bengali songs. The evening also saw the audiences enthralled by the special ‘Make It Large’ surprise element moments during the event. Commenting on the occasion, Arijit Singh said, “I am honored to have begun my first integrated and exclusive India tour in Kolkata and on Christmas Eve.  This journey along with GiMA & MTV will definitely be an incredible experience for me.”
