Oye Hichki Launched at Rani Mukerji’s School Come Salute the spirit of overcoming one’s Hichki

Rani Mukerji went back to school, her alma mater Maneckji Cooper today to launch the promotional video from her forthcoming release, Oye Hichki. A catchy song, which is also the first song that the makers have released, sees Rani call out the prevalent social Hichkis like preference for fair skin, looking down at people with disabilities, girls not having the right to choose their life partners, etc. This video highlights the different types of discriminations prevalent in our society today that exists in each and everyone of us. This song urges everyone to identify them and overcome them, one discrimination at a time. Rani launched the song at her school Maneckji Cooper today afternoon.
Rani plays the character of Naina Mathur who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds. Hichki focuses on turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges that life throws at one and ultimately winning over them. It is also a subtle reminder about discrimination that exists in our society and has become a part of our daily lives. It highlights this through the story of Naina, who faces discrimination from our society that firmly believes she cannot be a teacher because of her disorder. Sung by Harshdeep Kaur and lyrics by Jaideep Sahni, the catchy Oye Hichki song is choreographed by none other than Vaibhavi Merchant. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma, the movie is set to touch the hearts of audiences when it releases on March 23.

Dancing to the wedding tunes

Indian weddings are incomplete without the hullabaloo of loud songs and dances. During the 90s, the celebrations were never restricted to the bride or groom’s party and the entire locality joined in the revelries. One of the most awaited moments was the arrival of the marriage party when everyone danced to their heart’s content! In the recent track of Sony Entertainment Television’s Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, Naina’s sister is getting married in an elaborate ceremony. All the actors are having a time of their life gorging on delicious food, getting dressed in bridal fineries and ornaments. Both the lead actors Randeep Rai & Ashi Singh danced to their heart’s content in the baraat!
When contacted Ashi confirmed, “I love to dance! It had been a long time that we were waiting to go for a wedding, so that we could dance in the baraat! With this track, all of us got to enjoy dancing to the hilt! Our assistant directors told us the way they wanted us to dance which we did and also improvised. In the frenzy of dancing, we forgot that we were shooting and got into the groove of things with the foot tapping music and went totally crazy! We also did the Naagin dance! It was a crazy sequence and we loved every bit of it!”

Naina dawns Padmini Kolhapure’s Look

People have always looked towards film stars from their respective eras as style icons and have mimicked their dressing styles while attending any family functions and weddings. The heroines from Bollywood movies of the 90s dazzled on the silver screen and entertained young and old with their demure acting skills and dance performances. Beauties such as Sridevi, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Padmini Kolhapure captured audience attention and enjoyed fan worship across age groups. Girls would often copy their dresses and hairstyles to stand out from the crowd. In the upcoming shaadi track, the look of Ashi Singh who plays the role of Naina in the show has been styled after Padmini Kolhapure’s look from the movie Prem Rog.
When contacted Ashi said, “As the show is based in the 90s, we had to style my look on a popular heroine from the era. The creative team and I had a lot of discussions and looked at different patterns and finally selected Padmini Kolhapure’s look! Be it Prem Rog, Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai and Pyar Jhukta Nahi the gorgeous actress redefined innocence and elegance in her movies and became a style icon. Her beautiful pink saree and the way it was dressed artistically brings back fond memories.”

Raveena Tandon‘s case of lost and found

Raveena Tandon’s faith in humanity was reaffirmed after her recent experience with an auto-rickshaw rider. The actress's friend, Purnima Lamchhan was paying her visit at her residence in Bandra. She hadn't even realised that she had forgotten her phone in the auto-rickshaw she had boarded. When the auto-rickshaw rider found the phone in the backseat, he rode all the way to Tandon’s bungalow in Bandra to hand the phone. Touched by his honesty, the gorgeous actress clicked selfies with him and wrote a post dedicated to him on her Twitter handle.
She wrote, “This honest man, came back to return @PurnimaLamchhan phone of his own accord even without us realising she had left her phone in his autorickshaw! Reinstills my faith in people. All is not lost!”

Taapsee’s look in Dil Juunglee is inspired by Princess Diaries.

Actress Taapsee Pannu whose last film Judwaa 2 was a hit at the box office, will soon be seen in Dil Juunglee, a romantic comedy starring Saqib Saleem. The trailer of the film was out a few weeks ago and her character Koroli Nair has intrigued us. In the first half, she plays an English teacher who is someone who lives her life like a fairytale where everything is beautiful and perfect around her. While in the second half, she gets matured since there is a time lapse and becomes a woman who is more practical in her approach.
We now hear that her look in this film is inspired by Anne from Princess Diaries.  A source close to the actor mentioned, "In the first half of the film, she plays an English teacher who is nerdy and goofy, and lives life on her own terms. Her look in the film goes through changes as she grows up. Interestingly, her look in college is inspired by none other than Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway's role, Mia Thermopolis, in The Princess Diaries (2001). It is one of the most iconic films and Anne's pre-makeover look in the film became quite popular."  Taapsee's character, similar to Mia, has fringes with long curly hair and sports glasses. The source adds, "The two characters even share a lot in common on screen. Both the characters burst with life and are full of innocence. Taapsee, too, is a huge fan of the film and loves Anne Hathaway. It was exciting for her to go through the process to adapt to this peculiar look "
Dil Juunglee produced by Deepshikha Deshmukh and Jackky Bhagnani is slated to release on 23rd February.
