ACTRESS AND PUNJABI SENSATION ‘PARUL GULATI’ TO STAR IN A LIGHT- HEARTED, FUN SERIES ON THE LIVES OF MILLENNIALS

She has been paired opposite the charming and elusive Rajat Barmecha of ‘Udaan’ movie fame for a drama on Times Group’s soon-to-be-launched OTT platform, built on top of their acquisition of MX Player.

Having dabbled successfully in Punjabi cinema and playing no-nonsense characters in series like Nikhil Advani’s critically acclaimed ‘P.O.W’ and Haq Se, Parul Gulati’s next outing as an actor will come as a pleasant surprise for all her fans. The pretty actress has been signed up for a fun series based on trials millennial's face in their day to day lives, including a sex-comedy angle running in parallel with the storyline.

Commenting on her new avatar Parul said, “It is about time I did something fun and relatable and the series came to me just when I was looking to do something which feels like fresh air. We were a fairly young cast working and in many ways we related to a lot of stuff in the series. I am sure audiences will have a ball watching the show.”

Sources have confirmed the series will air on the soon-to-be-launched OTT and will be one of the launch shows of the platform.

Richa to romance Malayalam star Rajeev Pillai in Shakeela

Richa Chadha who has currently just returned from Melbourne attending the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, is also shooting for Inside Edge 2, the sequel of the super hit series that took India by storm. Apart from that the actress has also begun shooting for Shakeela, the Indrajit Lankesh biopic of the iconic actress.

The Fukrey actress, who has started shooting for the film, which captures the early life and career of the Southern star, has a rather charming young man playing her love interest. Rajeev Pillai, a popular model and Malayalam actor will be portraying the role of a young man Shakeela falls in love with. The multi talented actor, who debuted as a lead actor with the 2011 crime thriller, City of God, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, has had a successful career in the fashion industry, having walked the ramp for several major fashion weeks and has also worked for a few international brands.

Although not much is known about his role, we are eager to see what this new pairing has in store for us.

Kajol goes back to college

The second song, Yaadon Ki Almari, from the most anticipated film of the year 'Helicopter Eela' was launched by Kajol and Riddhi Sen at a local college festival amongst hundreds of fans. She visited the college campus after a long time and was overly excited to be amongst the crowd.

Since the movie is based on the premise of a mother following her son and getting admission in his college, the makers decided it was best to launch this track on a campus along with students. Director Pradeep Sarkar says, “I always conceptualise songs to take the story and situations in a film forward. Yaadon Ki Almari is about the aspirations of Kajol’s character, Eela; it’s about her wanting to write and compose music. In fact, in the film, she goes on to make a small music video after this song. The track conveys thoughts and ideas about letting one’s dreams out of the proverbial closet.”

Amit Trivedi has composed the music for this interesting number, while Swanand Kirkire has penned the lyrics. Palomi Ghosh has sung Yaadon Ki Almari and she has acted in several internationally-acclaimed films before. Speaking about making her foray into playback singing, she says, “I was simply having a ball recording the audio board and next thing I knew, I was singing the songs. Pradeep dada said I was Eela’s voice, so I could approach the songs as an actor, bear the character’s journey in mind and translate those emotions through the music. I am grateful that he thought that I could do this.”

Talking about the emotions of Yaadon Ki Almari, Palomi reveals she tapped into her own memories for this special song. She says, “It resonated with me completely because my mind is constantly in and out of memories of the past, some meethi, some khaari. Hopefully it tugs at all the fond memories of those listening and brings them joy.”
