Rani Mukerji’s Hichki to Release in Kazakhstan

Rani Mukerji won hearts as well as box office glory with her convincing and spirited performance as a teacher who deals with Tourette Syndrome in Hichki earlier this year. Since then, the film has been winning laurels across the globe as well. The film received a standing ovation at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) and at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). Rani also won the Best Actress award for her outstanding performance at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

The film had a successful run in Russia and now Hichki is set to release in Kazakhstan. Known for some interest in Hindi films, Hichki will get a Russian voice over release here, as it is one of Kazakhstan’s official languages.

Rani Mukerji said, “It’s truly amazing that films can cross over to different cultures and languages because of its universal story. Hichki is a reflection of society, a reflection of how we all have weaknesses and we need to overcome them to make the world a better place. It talks about every person’s determination, focus and positive spirit to win over obstacles. I’m happy that Hichki’s core message is resonating with audiences across the globe. I am proud of the film, and grateful that people are enjoying it.”

Hichki will be screened across 15 screens here, which makes it the biggest release for a Hindi feature film in this nation since 2015. The film will release on September 20 in Kazakhstan.

“The entire cast of 13 Mussorie found it hard to believe that I set up an app for the Parsis” – Viraf Phiroz Patel

The extremely talented actor Viraf Phiroz Patel, who has entertained the viewers with his exemplary acting skills has lately been much spoken about for his upcoming web series 13 Mussorie which will stream on Viu. The first look of the series itself has become the talk of the town, which makes us wonder on the excitement for its release.

Apart from acting, the multi talented actor is also a founder of Parsi social networking app, called Aapro App’. ‘Aapro' in Gujrathi means 'ours'. On the same when we got to know, we contacted Viraf to know more on it and he quipped, “Yes, I am the founder of Aapro App. Being a Parsi myself, I thought of coming up with this idea where Parsi’s around the world can connect in the digital world. Umeed Kothawala my co-founder & fellow parsi in crime helped me start this around 2 years back and we have been getting a very interesting response for the same from all quarters of the community. Someone is finding a partner, someone a designer and what not.”

“I have received so much from this amazing community, one is just glad to contribute back in some small way. When I tell people about my experience of making the app, strangely some find it difficult to believe. I recall when we were chatting about it on the sets of 13 Mussorie, nobody could actually believed me until they investigated and verified it like cops. Now they threaten to join the app! But well, even though it takes a while for anybody to believe, it is a non profit app of happiness for us, to see parsis connect in the virtual world” concluded Viraf.

To watch the phenomenal performance of Viraf Phiroz Patel in 13 Mussorie, stay tuned to Viu.

Mudassar Aziz comes to Sonakshi Sinha’s rescue on the sets of Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi in Amritsar!

While Sonakshi Sinha’s character Harpreet aka Happy in Eros International & Aanand L Rai’s Colour Productions’ Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi hails from Amritsar, the makers had to shoot a scene featuring her in a crowded market area.

In spite of trying to achieve it with as much production strength and planning as possible, a massive crowd turned up which was uncontrollable and finally filmmaker Mudassar Aziz had to cancel the shot! It became extremely difficult to even escort Sonakshi back to her car.

Mudassar informs, “We had ample security but the kind of crowd that turned out, it was not easy for four to five security personnel to handle the situation and I had to step in. Since I was closest to Sonakshi, I somehow managed to take her safely to the car,” and elaborates, “There was an over enthusiastic person who was trying to reach out to Sonakshi for a picture and since I was coming in his way, he let his elbow go on my back which kept paining for the next two days.”

The team came up with a plan the following day when Mudassar kept a camera in a carthroughout and escorted Sonakshi to the location in a burkha! She got rid of the burkha in the middle of the road when everything was absolutely ready and the team managed to get the shot!

Presented by Eros International and Aanand L Rai, A Colour Yellow Production produced by Aanand L Rai & Krishika Lulla, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi releases on August 24.
