Dia Mirza To Speak At Social Good Summit 2018 In New York

Actress, producer and ‘champion of nature’ Dia Mirza, has become a global name owing to her work in the field of environment protection, has been invited to be one of the speakers at the Social Good Summit 2018 at New York on September 23 this year.

For those who do not know this, the Summit is held annually during the United Nations General Assembly week and brings together a lively community of global citizens and progressive thought leaders around a common theme#2030NOW. A dynamic exploration of how the world should be by 2030, the Social Good Summit focuses on how one can unlock technology’s potential to make the world a better place.

UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza is one of the leading global voices on nature’s conversation; one of the most impactful influencers for UNEP's ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ campaign. Apart from Dia, international entertainer and activist Lilly Singh has also been invited to speak at the Summit.

EPIC LAUNCHES TWO NEW SHOWS CELEBRATING THE HISTORY AND WILDLIFE OF INDIA

After the successful launch of the much acclaimed series – Regiment Diaries that profiles the various regiments that constitute the Indian Army, EPIC channel, India's only Hindi infotainment channel, has announced the launch of two series- 'Wilderness Days'- based on India’s diverse and rich wildlife, and ‘Kissa Currency Ka’- that explores the coins minted by kings and empires in India’s long history.

Wilderness Days has been shot in India’s greatest wildlife landmarks including Corbett Tiger Reserve, Rajaji National Park, Pauri, Valley of Flowers, Choti Haldwani, Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Mandu and Ranthambore National Park to name a few. The series will give viewers exclusive inside access to these breathtaking locales and tell stories of animals, nature and human interaction with the wild, in an incredible journey through the country’s treasured wildlife reserves and sanctuaries.

The show will be hosted by veteran Indian actor and theatre stalwart, the late Tom Alter. Known for his strong narrative style, Alter is sorely missed and this series is a great chance for audiences to reconnect with the impeccable presentation and strong screen persona that Alter exuded.

In the same week, EPIC is also launching an animated mini-series series titled ‘Kissa Currency Ka’ that explores currency and its evolution over 2000 years. Through the coins and currency minted by the various sovereigns that ruled the several kingdoms of the Indian subcontinent across the ages, Kissa Currency Ka tells explores the system of money and monetary transaction, while telling stories and interesting factoids of the life and times of kingdoms and empires.

Kissa Currency Ka is a 13-episode series, all set to launch on 05th September 2018 and Wilderness Days is a 26 episode series that begins on 07th September 2018.

Karan Johar’s advices Jhanvi Kapoor to not take social networking site trolls seriously

ISHQ 104.8 FM’s popular show Calling Karan season 2 have been receiving rave reviews for its beguiling concept. The multi talented host Karan Johar has been much appreciated and looked forward to by the listeners for his relationship advices.

Along with the listeners, even the B’town celebrities seek guidance from Karan. One such caller on the show was the gorgeous Jhanvi Kapoor. Tired with the social networking site trollers, she reached out to Karan to know on how to deal with them, “I have one really important piece of advice that I need from you. All of us are on Instagram, Twitter etc. and you know that trolling is a very prevalent thing on all these social media websites, how should I deal with it?”

Karan had a super suggestion for Jhanvi, “I have discussed this with you time and again just learn to be amused by them. They are a group of lonely, unhappy, unattractive, unemployed people who don’t need to give you any input and advice. They are just angry and upset because of their circumstance and they just can’t bare the fact that you are in a poised, beautiful, wonderful, privileged position.”

Legendary filmmaker GOUTAM GHOSE and MS Dhoni AMIT AGARWAL bond to wrap film in 20 days

Goutam Ghose is back to Hindi cinema and has collaborated with his long-time friend Amit Agarwal for a Hindi film tentatively titled ‘One Day In The Rains’. “My relationship with Goutam Da is almost 15 years old now, I share a unique bonding with him and I really feel honoured to produce the film for him” says Amit. Though he was earlier planning a Bengali film with Ghose, Amit got very excited after hearing the narration of One Day In The Rains and he immediately decided to produce this film first as they both did not want to miss this monsoon, which is the soul of the film. Within a short notice of 30 days the shooting was scheduled at fabulous unexplored areas of Jharkhand which again was the discovery of Ghose himself.

The film is produced by Amit Agarwal under his banner Adarsh Telemedia Private Limited and stars Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome, Neeraj Kabi and Onkardas Manikpuri among others in pivotal roles. “This film will be a milestone and I am sure that it would be the finest work of Goutam Da till date” feels Amit.

“Amit is like my younger brother and my son. We were talking earlier about an Indo-Italian collaboration, but that film could not take off immediately due to technical reasons. Then I had a script based on a short story and I wanted to film it during rains. Amit said we could do it immediately and we planned the film in 20 days and finished shooting in exactly 20 days thanks to the efforts of Amit and his team and our team of technicians and brilliant actors,” says Ghose.

The innumerable National and International award-winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose, apart from a host of award winning Bengali films, has Hindi films like Paar, Patang, Gudiya and Yatra in his filmography. Amit Agarwal, under his banner Adarsh Telmedia Pvt. Ltd, has backed films like M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story, Simran, Astra (Bengali), Vartak Nagar (Releasing end 2018) and Ajooba The Wonder Boy (Animation, Under Production, which he is directing as well).

Hence, the Director-Producer duo are putting all efforts and are leaving no stone unturned to present a world class cinematic craft to film buffs across the globe.

Stree Power! - a total winner at the box office

Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy, Stree, has set a record breaking number on its first weekend. The film has seen a massive growth from Friday to Sunday and has garnered a sum total of 32.07 crore in the first three days!

The makers are even more elated since the entire weekend collection is pure profit, they had recovered the money pre release through other avenues such as music, digital and satellite.

A visibly excited Dinesh Vijan says “We expected to open well as the entire campaign got a fantastic response and we were confident that the audiences would love the film. But this kind of love and appreciation is overwhelming! This year has been super for the industry and I am elated that Stree could be part of it!”

The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer had intrigued audiences and critics alike and the strong  word of mouth has increased footfalls this weekend. 

With the positive response film has been  receiving, it is expected to hold strong over the week!
