Anu Malik’s composition on Indian Idol gets a spot in Bollywood flick - Sui Dhaaga

Anu Malik is known all over the music industry as the maestro. His penchant to compose and narrate whacky shayari for audiences and celebrity guests on sets of Indian Idol 10 has been one of the key entertaining factors of India’s biggest singing reality show on Indian Idol 10. On the recent episode, celebrity guests Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma made a special appearance to promote their upcoming movie – Sui Dhaaga. Incidentally, Anu Malik has also composed music for the title track of this Bollywood project.  

Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan thoroughly enjoyed all the performances from the talented Top 11 contestants on Indian Idol. Varun Dhawan danced along with the contestants and the judges as well which heightened the glamour and entertainment quotient of the episode. The legendary composer Anu Malik composed a new song titled – ‘Sab Badhiya’ on the spot! Everyone including Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani, along with Varun and Anushka were surprised and marveled at the striking musical composition! The actor duo was so impressed with the composition that they decided to include it in the movie, then and there itself! 

Anu Malik on the sets of Indian Idol 10 revealed, “It was an amazing moment for all of us to have Anushka and Varun. Sui Dhaaga is a very special film and the whole moment on Indian Idol was beautiful. As a composer It comes naturally to me seeing the things around. I was inspired to compose this song ‘Sab Badhiya Hai’ while seeing the vibes around me. They loved it and everyone was surprised. Varun and Anushka were so impressed that they decided to include it in the movie even after the project has been completed. It was a proud moment for all of us that a song that was composed on the sets of Indian Idol will now be included in an upcoming Bollywood movie.”

When Maniesh Paul got Rs 100 as Shagun on Indian Idol 10

Indian Idol is winning hearts across the country with the impressive singing talent and the renowned panel of Judges. The other factor which raises the entertainment quotient of the show is the most loved and talented host, Maniesh Paul.  Maniesh Paul is also a multitalented guy who impresses everyone with a little surprise every week. When Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik were guests on the show, the judges insisted our host Maniesh Paul to present one of his favourite song. Maniesh impressed everyone by singing ‘tumse pyaar karte rahenge’. The judges and the contestants gave him a standing ovation and also pressed the buzzer for Mausam Badal Diya. Overwhelmed, our veteran singer- judge Anu Malik gave Rs.100 as Shagun to Maniesh Paul. The guest of the day Kumar Sanu also gifted Maniesh Paul Rs. 2000 for beautifully singing the song. After Maniesh’s fabulous singing performance the judges and the Top 11 contestants grouped together to give him Mausam badal diya.

Anu Malik says. “Maniesh is a very talented boy. He is extraordinary in hosting but I have seen his singing talent for the first time in the show. Whenever any singer sings beautifully in my studio I like to gift them something as Shagun. When Maniesh left us speechless with his performance I couldn’t resist myself and the first thing I reached out too was a 100 rs note which I immediately gifted him.”

Guneet Monga brings together India’s biggest YouTuber Bhuvan Bam and actress Divya Dutta for a unique short film - Plus Minus

Bhuvan Bam makes his acting debut and Divya Dutta makes her short film debut with the film

After her stupendous success with the short drama titled Chutney starring Tisca Chopra and Rasika Dugal which till date has 122 million views on YouTube, director Jyoti Kapur Das is back this time with another promising project. Titled, Plus Minus, the film is a relationship drama starring Divya Dutta and India’s biggest content creator Bhuvan Bam. After having captured the digital mediums with his incredible content, Bhuvan who runs a highly successful YouTube channel titled BB Ki Vines will make his acting debut with this short film. Over the years, Bhuvan has earned himself the top spot today on YouTube with almost 10 million subscribers to his name and a fan base which is extremely vast and loyal.

The story of Plus Minus revolves around two strangers who meet each other on a train journey and one conversation between them changes their lives. It delves Into the dynamics of human relationships and stars Divya Dutta and Bhuvan Bam. The title Plus Minus reflects the central idea that human have to do plus and minus in relationships to make it work.

The film is set to release on 14th of September and has been produced by       Guneet Monga, Achin Jain and Rohit Raj. Guneet Monga has earlier given the world of cinema gems like Masaan, Lunchbox, Gangs of Wasseypur to name a few and with such an incredible cast and team backing this short, we can only count days until the film releases next week.

Speaking about his acting debut, Bhuvan Bam said, “The story itself was compelling enough for me to jump onto it and gladly be a part of it. And with an impeccable team backing the film, it was an easy decision for me. The story is simple but extremely effective which explores various dimensions of human relationships through the narrative of two individuals which is played by Divya and me”.

Adding to his thought, Divya Dutta who makes her short film debut said, “It was so lovely to work with this wonderful team, to tell a story so simple yet beautiful. Exploring human relationships and the various aspects of this through a short film was indeed a unique experience for me as an actor. To capture so many emotions and layers within such few minutes is a challenge but I think Jyoti has captured that essence well. Collaborating with Bhuvan, Guneet and Jyoti has been a pleasure and I’m excited with this being my debut in the short film format. Can’t wait for the film to come out in a few days”.

Concluding their thoughts, producer Guneet Monga said, “I’m ecstatic as a producer to have an amazing team of Bhuvan, Divya and Jyoti coming together for this unique project. It’s an insight into the diverse aspect of human nature and relationships. Jyoti has given an incredible success with Chutney and when she shared this story with me, I knew we had something special in hand. This was an opportunity to collaborate with Bhuvan and his channel BB Ki Vines, PLUS MINUS being their first cinematic co-production. We hope the audience enjoy the film as much as we loved making it”.

The film will be released on the Youtube channel of BB Ki Vines and marks the first of such a collaboration for the channel since its inception.

Richa Chadha to showcase Love Sonia in small towns for women to create awareness on sex trafficking

Richa Chadha who is currently shooting in Bangalore for the Shakeela Khan biopic, in which she will be seen playing the 90s South Indian icon, is geared up for the release of her critically acclaimed film, Love Sonia.

Directed by Tabrez Noorani, who has produced Academy Award winning movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Zero Dark Thirty and Life of Pi, the story of Love Sonia follows a young girl who gets sucked into the ugly world of sex trafficking and the global flesh trade. Starring Mrunal Thakur in the lead, the film also brings Manoj Bajpayee, Freida Pinto, Rajkummar Rao, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher and Saiee Tamhankar playing pivotal characters in the quest of Sonia and is slated for release on 14th September, although it has premiered at several International Film Festivals and has also won awards for tackling such a sensitive issue so beautifully.

As the film depicts how a young girl is brought into the flesh trade from a small town, Richa wants to hold screenings of the film in small towns across the country to create awareness on sex trafficking and how to prevent the heinous crime from being committed. The Fukrey actress, who recently won the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the award for Outstanding Performance at the London Indian Film Festival earlier this year, believes that in order to eradicate the awful practice of flesh trade, it is extremely important to educate the masses at the grass root level. On the topic, Richa said, "Cinema still lacks access to a vast audience and Love Sonia and it’s theme matters. It’s time girls should be aware from a young age of a dark reality that exists. An education is a must for girls from their high school and colleges. I thus upon release, plan on showing the film to girls in smaller towns and conducting screenings to help create a wider awareness and begin a conversation."

The talented actress will soon be seen on the web reprising her role of Zarina Malik in Amazon Prime’s original web series, Inside Edge 2.

The 3rd edition of Lonavala International Film Festival India 2018 (LIFFI) is all set to enthrall film lovers from 7th to 9th September 2018 at ‘Triose Plaza, Lonavala’

An engaging and captivating International Film Festival for film enthusiasts, providing them with a platform to explore and experience different genres of films under one roof

The festival will kickstart with Bimal Roy’s epic “ Sujata “ & Sridhar Rangayan’s “Evening Shadows” followed with 16 Films,3 Master Class & Interactive seminars will  be conducted to impart learning and an enriching experience for film students and enthusiasts.

As a tribute to the ace Director Bimal Roy’s unparalleled contribution to Indian Cinema, six of his widely acclaimed films will be showcased. A short documentary on him will also be screened on the occasion. This section will be curated by his daughter Ms. Rinki Roy Bhattacharya.

As a precursor to the festival, there will be an exhibition of Bimal Roy’s film posters, stills, memorabilia, and artifacts from 1st September onwards at Triose Plaza. Books about him authored / edited by his daughter will be on sale at special prices.

The 1st and 2nd editions of LIFFI witnessed immense interest and participation from all over. The 3rd edition of LIFFI 2018 is all set to enthrall cinema lovers with its  wide range of films. LIFFI 2018 is setting the right tone to offer its visitors and patrons a completely different and a memorable “Cinematic Experience”. The Festival which has been scaling new heights since its inception, will have a variety of add-ons this time. This includes Q&A sessions after each screening, workshops, master classes etc.

Bimal Roy’s classics films like Devdas,Bandini, Madhumati’and others. Marathi films like ‘Nude, Kachcha Limboo, Dr. Rakhmabai’ will also be screened. Other engaging activities include an interactive session with Director Ananth Mahadevan on his remarkable movie Life is Good and Dr. Rakhmabai. Director and Producer Viveck Vaswani will conduct a thought provoking workshop with the media students. Due to popular demand, his film Rough Book screened in LIFFI 2016 has been included once again. Other films like Iqbal, Joggers Park, Kashmakash ,“The Genius – Ramanujan” and the 1st Ukrainian English Animation film "The Stolen Princess’ will also be screened at the venue in English & Hindi.

Students from reputed  media schools from Mumbai, Lonavala and Pune have been invited for this festival with a view to help them improve their skills and gain knowledge. LIFFI 2018 aims to provide a unique and everlasting experience to all its visitors through this entertaining medium.
