It's raining awards for short movie 'Ab Mujhe Udnaa Hai- Let Me Soar High'

When a good director first meets a talented actor, chances are they might do something amazing together. Suujoy J Mukerji directorial short film "Ab Mujhe Udnaa Hai- Let Me Soar High" featuring Shreyas Porus Pardiwalla has won the Best Film award at the Cotton City International Film Festival. When a director and an actor share this level of trust and are both as talented as these two are, great achievements are more than assured.

The film by Suujoy J Mukerji, son of legendary actor and filmmaker Joy Mukerji, points out that the world over women’s molestation and rape are a matter of concern, and the film is a story of guts, grit and glory. Even before its release, the inspiring short film has been making waves at the global level having won several awards and accolades. The movie received a thunderous applause and an overwhelming response at the International Film Festival.

“My film is about empowering victims of molestation and rape. The society, as a whole, needs to join in the effort to help victims of sexual abuse and crimes to regain their confidence and join the mainstream,” says Suujoy.

Shreyas Porus Pardiwalla Says " I'm overwhelmed with the constant appreciation that our film has been getting. It's truly a proud feeling and a prestigious honour to be winning the award. I feel truly blessed to be associated with  "Ab Mujhe Udnaa Hai- Let Me Soar High"

Barun Sobti’s 22 Yards is winning over international markets

Indian films releasing internationally and doing a great deal of business there is becoming a more and more common phenomenon. One such film currently which is creating waves in Russia is Barun Sobti starrer 22 Yards. Directed by Mitali Ghosh the film has been recording tremendous response from the audiences there especially given the film is an indie genre and despite its scale, the film managed to get a vast release in over 100 screens.

The film has been running in the country for over 3 weeks and there’s no stopping it’s success as yet. As the film gears for a record in the market, the film has been performing well owing to Barun’s television popularity. The film despite being a small budget independent film, surprisingly got a wide release, a first of its kind for a film with no big ticket stars helming the project.

After it’s continued success, 22 Yards will soon release in yet another niche less explored market, Kazakhstan. The film circles around the story of a sports manager who looses his credibility and career in a alleged booking scandal. The manager played by Sobti has to revive his career by convincing a new and upcoming young player to make him a major league sportsman. The film stars Rajit Kapur, Panchi Bora, Amartya Ray and Chaiti Ghoshal.

When asked Barun he said, Barun said, "It’s really amazing to know that the film has been doing so well in Russia. It’s been 3 weeks since it’s release and it’s rare or almost never that a smaller independent film like ours releases so widely in a country like Russia. It’s a big market for big ticket films, however the fact that a modest film like ours has done exceptional business is extremely rewarding. I’m glad the film has got this new lease and is getting a new way to travel internationally and achieve such feats. And post the success in Russia, we are soon headed to Kazakhstan."

The cast of Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein beat the heat in Delhi with Golas and Goti Soda

During the scorching summer heat, our bodies tend to feel dehydrated due to which, our energy levels drop. To up the energy and deal with the harsh heat, many love to consume tasty coolers and a lot of cases, even innovate their favourite summer fruits. For the first outdoor shoot of Sony Entertainment Television’s upcoming show; Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein, the cast was shooting in Delhi during peak summers. Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein is a beautiful love story of a hearing-impaired boy named Yogi. Shooting in the heat of Delhi 06, every nook and corner of the place was shouting authenticity. Little did they know, the scorching heat of Delhi was not an easy task to fight.

Lead of the show, Mudit Nayar who plays the role of Yogi, hails from Allahabad and had a fair idea of the hot weather in Delhi. Being the kind soul that he is, he took it on himself to keep the cast hydrated and fresh throughout the day while they were in the city. Although he was reminding everyone to drink an ample amount of water continuously, he also called for ‘gola-wala’ and ‘Goti soda’ to bring in the Delhi feels. He ensured that during the break everyone was consuming enough amount of fluid to keep their energy levels up during the shoot schedule. From Rishina Kandhari who is playing the role of Rani, Yogi’s elder sister in law to Swati Shah who is playing the role of Kusum, Yogi’s mother everyone enjoyed the summer coolers in the mini-breaks they got during the shoot. Even Kiran Karmarkar who is playing the role of Yogi’s father and Kaaran Singh who will be seen as Yogi’s elder brother were having goti-sodas one after the other. Everyone on sets thoroughly relished the mini gola and goti soda party which was the need of this hour.

When we reached out to Mudit to share his experience while shooting in Delhi he said, “While we were shooting in Delhi, it reminded me of my college days where I used to hang out with my friends drinking nimbu-pani and goti-soda around the campus. Delhi has my heart and I have spent many years in this city. From summers to winters, I have enjoyed all the weathers at their extreme. Delhi summers are blazing and it is mandatory to keep oneself hydrated with enough intake of liquids. To add flavour and colour to the liquids, I called for golas and goti soda for the cast and made them enjoy the real drinks of Delhi.”
