Arko Pravo Mukherjee talks on how royalty rights for artists in India need to be put in place

After presenting soulful melodies like, “Nazm Nazm” (Bareilly ki Barfi), “Tere Sang Yaara”(Rustom), and “Teri Mitti” (Kesari), prolific singer/composer/lyricist - Arko Pravo Mukherjee made his podcast debut in a recent episode of 9XM SoundcastE, an IVM Podcasts show. Hosted by Eva Bhatt, the episode went into the depths of the singer’s musical journey and his experiences. Amidst discussing the current scenario of the music industry in India, Arko mentions his disappointment towards the infrastructure of collecting royalties in India. He explained this further saying, “We don’t have the infrastructure of collecting royalties in India, that is the problem, because for a composer, say where I am now in India, suppose I’m Arko in Germany, same position, same age, same number songs, I would be making a huge amount of money in royalties which Indian composers don’t make and that is why they think that maybe we have to do more shows. Though, performing artists and composing music have nothing to do with each other.”

‘Sooraj Thapar’ roped in for Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein

Sony Entertainment Television’s upcoming show Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein is an innocent love story of a hearing-impaired boy; Yogi played by Mudit Nayar. SET has always been famous for the unique concept of their fiction shows and Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein just adds on to the list. Acclaimed television actor Sooraj Thapar who has been previously seen in popular shows like Chandragupta Maurya would now be seen in Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein essaying the role of Shiv who plays father to the show’s main lead Simran Pareenja aka Gunjan.

Sooraj Thapar would be seen in the character of an egoistic industrialist and a strict father for his daughter. He wishes to get the best match in the town for his daughter and thus always makes decisions on behalf of his daughter.

When asked about his new role and the show, Sooraj said, “Ishaaroon Ishaaron Mein is a show that comes with a very unique thought and concept and so is the way I got it. After 27 years I have bagged a show without any audition or mock shoot or look test. The producer of the show have known me for quite some time now and wanted me to take this part. I am a huge fan of Zama Habib’s writing, so there was no question of saying no to him. In the show, I would be seen as a rich industrialist who wishes to gain the best of matches for his daughter and thus his love and protective nature towards his daughter changes to obsession.  The role is very different from the past roles that I have lived on television and I am looking forward to playing it.”

Launch of Awez Darbar, Zaid Darbar and Tejal Pimpley’s new venture  B YOU Academy by legend Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

 Choreographers and Influencers, Awez Darbar & Zaid Darbar and their friend Tejal Pimpley launched their first venture B You Dance Academy  yesterday,10th July 2019 at Laxmi Industrial Estate, Business Park. Honoring the launch, the academy was inaugurated by Legend filmmaker Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The Duo is the son of popular music director Ismail Darbar. They are quite popular on social media platforms having a huge number of following. After getting popular on different social media platforms the duo and their friend are set to take their passion a step further in the form of B You Academy. An academy with an aim to provide quality dance training in all dance styles such as Bollywood, Bollyhop, Contemporary and many more for all ages.

On this ocassion, Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali said , Ismail and I are really good friends. I know him since last 20 years. We did a film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. I have seen Awez and Zaid growing up since their childhood. I have seen their journey and today, they have opened their dance school. It’s a proud moment for me and Ismail Bhai. He also said I would surely like to collaborate with Awez and Zaid in furture for my films.

  Awez Darbar and Zaid Darbar are the heart of social media platforms. If we talk about Awez Darbar, he is having 1.8 Million Followers on Instagram and 13.6 Million Followers on Tik Tok. Where Zaid Darbar also having 58.4k Followers on Instagram and 1.3 Million Followers on Tik Tok. The Duo has been officially trained with the Guru of Contemporary Dance, Shiamak Davar and specialized in styles – Hip Hop, Bollywood, and Contemporary. They also worked there as a Senior Instructor for five years.

Khandaani Shafakhana all set to break sex-related taboos In India

Khandaani Shafakhana is an upcoming film starring Sonakshi Sinha in the lead which talks about something that’s least discussed in this country of 1.35 billion. Yes, sex!

The slice-of-life movie tells the story of a small town Punjabi girl named Baby Bedi who inherits a sex clinic from her uncle. Through her journey,  the film makes the audience reflect on why sex still remains a taboo in most parts of the country, and builds a campaign to break the stigma around sex in our society.

The makers have taken a funny approach to analyse and showcase how the taboo of sex and problems related to it affect the general well-being of nearly everyone in our society. Not just that, we get a glimpse of how a patriarchal society reacts to a girl advocating and treating sexual issues openly.

Talking about the same, Sonakshi says, "The reason I chose to do this film is the subject and how relevant it is even in today's day and age. I am glad that Shilpi decided to make a film about the sex taboo in our country... its a very brave attempt. I would like to encourage people to follow Baby Bedi's tagline that is, Sharmao mat, Baat toh karo!"

Director Shilpi Dasgupta adds, "It’s quite astonishing that Indians seem to have lengthy debates on pretty much everything under the sun. Except, you know.. this subject. Well, it was time we talked about sex. I believe the more open we get about it, the sooner we will transform into a healthier society.”

The film also stars Varun Sharma and Badshah, who is making his debut on the silver screen.

Gulshan Kumar & T-Series present, KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA, a Sundial production. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Divya Khosla Kumar, directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, the film is all set to release on 2nd August 2019.
