Akshay Kumar in and as the fearless king Prithviraj Chauhan

It’s official! Yash Raj Films is making one of the biggest period films ever produced by Bollywood, Prithviraj! The film is based on the life and heroism of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan and superstar Akshay Kumar is essaying the role of the warrior. Historians and folk legends portray him as an incredibly brave king who stood in front of the merciless Muhammad of Ghor and his ruthless invaders of India. Prithviraj’s daredevilry and heroism against Muhammad of Ghor catapulted him into a legendary ruler and fighter of free India.

Prithviraj is, incidentally, the first ever historical of YRF and the makers announced their ambitious production on the 52th birthday of superstar Akshay Kumar, who plays Prithviraj in the film. Akshay says, “It is truly an honour that I will be playing the role of one of the most fearless and courageous kings of India, Prithviraj Chauhan. As a nation, we should always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to propagate the values that Indians lived by. Prithviraj is our attempt to bring to light his valour and daredevilry. Prithviraj was the only person standing in front of a merciless nemesis and the bravery he showed, made him a true Indian hero, an inspiration for generations and a legend. So this announcement coming on my birthday has indeed made it more special for me.” 

Prithviraj is being directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi who directed the biggest television epic Chanakya – based on the life and times of the most influential political strategist of India and the multiple award-winning Pinjar. Prithviraj will release worldwide on Diwali 2020.

Nagraj Bhujang’s Hiss Effect

Supernatural genre not only offers a complete visual treat but also provides several plots to experiment and bring alive the characters. &TV’s Main Bhi Ardhangini with the central focus on Adbhud Mayavi Duniya - a fresh supernatural narrative, fascinating characters and gripping plots with strong visual representation is keeping the audience at the edge of their seats. Portraying the character of Nagaraj Bhujang, Meer Ali is leaving no stone unturned to enhance his character’s look, feel and overall texture.

Says the actor, “The genre of fantasy and fiction is quite intriguing and interesting to portray. My character of Bhujang offers a lot of scope and experimentation. He has a strong persona of his own and has the capability to own the space the moment he appears on the screen. Although I have been a part of other shows in a similar genre, this character completely stands out from the rest of the characters I have portrayed. Given my character is that of Nagaraj, I particularly spent time in understanding snakes and observing their movements - how fast they strike, how they wriggle their tail and flex their jaws. A lot of research went into creating the look, and it takes about two to two and half hours to get into the complete look. The look is fascinating and fabulous. “

Bhujang’s character is one of the central characters in the show and the makers have put in a lot of efforts to bring alive the essence of this potentate of Naglok. The look entails body painting, which takes about 2-2.25 hours, quintessential turban with a gemstone, prostates, comprehensive makeup and much more. (Add a line about Bhujang’s character)

Mrs. India Guyana Kristal Inshan feeds the underprivileged before flying to India

Mrs. India Guyana Kristal Inshan is soon to participate in the Mrs. India Worldwide beauty pageant at The Leela, Mumbai. The event is about to witness the most beautiful and talented contestants from over 40 countries, competing for the Miss and Mrs. India Worldwide titles, judged by a celebrity panel of judges, with a host of guests expected from Bollywood and Hollywood.

But Kristal is in news for something else this week. She believes in doing more for charity than most beauty queens promise on stage. Kristal not only enjoys spending holidays with friends and loved ones, but makes it a point to make time for the less fortunate and make their celebrations special too. Growing up with struggles of a poor life, she has learned to smile and be kind hearted more than anything else.

Recently, when she was to celebrate her birthday, her first thought was not to celebrate with a party or outing, but cook with her mother's help for underprivileged children of a village next to her hometown Georgetown in Guyana.

Her ideal great birthday was to share a home-cooked meal with the children. "Bringing happiness to those who have nothing makes my birthday that much more special," she says. A few days after her birthday, she along with her mother decided to cook some of the best of Indian dishes, after which they headed to a local orphanage to feed the underprivileged once again.

While at the orphanage, she noticed that a teenage girl didn't have proper eyeglasses. She took her to an eye doctor, and purchased a pair of eyeglasses for her. That's not all! Every Christmas, Kristal orders toys in bulk, and distributes them at a local village to give each child a gift and let them know how special they are.

Zee Studios & ZEE5 to present an original digital film based on the life of popular Indian Basketball player, Satnam Singh

In the year 2015, something astonishing and completely unexpected happened in the world of Indian basketball. 19-year-old Satnam Singh Bhamra created history, becoming the first Indian to be selected in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Zee Studios will produce an original digital film based on the inspirational journey of Satnam Singh that will stream exclusively on ZEE5 soon.

Excited for the film based on his life, Satnam Singh shared, "It feels unreal that a film is being made on me! As a sportsman, I have always loved films based on sports, and I feel honoured that this film is my story. What excites me most is that this is a basketball film, the first of its kind. I hope that the film will boost the game and more kids will want to try it out. There is huge potential for the game to grow in India, if only more people come out in support of it."

Speaking on the film, Ashima Avasthi, Head & VP, Zee Studios Originals commented, “In our country where basketball has miles to go before it enjoys the same kind of popularity cricket does, it’s time we encourage other sports; Satnam Singh’s extremely difficult yet heart-warming journey needs to be told and celebrated. The original film will chronicle the arduous journey of Satnam Singh who achieved every B-ball player’s ultimate dream but is still to realise his full potential. While his name has already gone down in the annals of Indian basketball, today, at the age of 24, after 15 years of living and breathing the game, Satnam still cannot afford to slow down. He now represents India in various tournaments around the world, he was a part of the NBL (Canadian league) in the 2018-19 season, and now strives towards going from strength to strength in this game that has become the cornerstone of his whole life. 

The studio is currently developing the project, the film will stream exclusively on ZEE5 soon.
