Aakanksha Singh raises funds for Covid-19 victims by auctioning her wardrobe

As part of Covid-19 relief, actress Aakanksha Singh organised a food distribution drive in her hometown, Jaipur, recently. Now, she auctioned her wardrobe to raise funds for Covid-19 relief in mumbai. “I thought I would give away my wardrobe to help Covid-19 patients. I hope people come together to help me with the cause and buy the clothes I am putting on sale,” says the actress.

Aakanksha feels that these are tough times for everyone and it’s imperative that public figures realise that they have an added responsibility to set a precedent for others. “The pandemic has hit us hard and the current situation is really sad. There are so many people who are struggling with hospital expenses, lack of oxygen cylinders and other healthcare-related issues. Public figures have a greater responsibility to do their bit as they can motivate people to come together and extend a helping hand,” says the Pailwan (2019) actress.

She adds that she is happy with the way the film industry has unified to help the needy meet the requirements due to the pandemic.  Aakanksha says, “It’s great that people from our industry are using social media to provide help. My only request to everybody is to only post the verified leads because it otherwise might delay the help to those who need it urgently.”

Mika Singh reveals late Wajid’s unique way of teaching him to sing an Akshay Kumar song in tune

Zee TV has been a pioneer and a trend-setter in shaping television content over the past three decades and once again, it seems to be changing the face of music reality shows with its latest non-fiction property, the Indian Pro Music League (IPML). While the world of sports has seen several league competitions, this unique music league has six teams representing different regions of India, battling it out against each other in a musical championship. Each of these six teams supported by leading Bollywood and sports celebrities has top playback singers as their captains, one reality show star, one all-rounder and one fresh voice. After three exhilarating innings, the fourth innings begins this weekend with a super match between all six teams.

While the competition will heat up during the upcoming episode of Indian Pro Music League with all the teams putting their best foot forward, the Wajid Khan special will also have many light moments with all the stars sharing some heartwarming anecdotes about the late musician. In fact, Mika also shared one such wonderful memory of Wajid where he mentioned about the late singer’s unique way of teaching him to sing an Akshay Kumar song in sync with the tune.

During the shoot of the episode, Mika Singh made a surprising revelation about how Wajid taught him how to sing Akshay Kumar’s Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita perfectly in tune by dancing to the track. The Punjab Lions captain revealed, "We were recording the song ‘Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita’ and Wajid has his own style of composition. So, there was an antara and I wasn't able to sing 'Arey kya rang roop hai? Kya chaal dhaal hai? in sync.' I was getting stuck, but Wajid had a trick up his sleeve. Not many know, but he was a great dancer and he danced on the whole bit so that I could catch the tune and lyrics."

While this revelation would have left you surprised, wait till you see all the teams singing special Sajid Wajid songs during the episode. You also cannot miss the musical battle between Gujarat Rockers, Bengal Tigers, Delhi Jammers, Mumbai Warriors, UP Dabbangs and Punjab Lions as they go all out to win the fourth super match.

To witness such wonderful moments and some incredible performances, tune into the Indian Pro Music League, every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm, only on Zee TV

Web is here to stay, but theatres are irreplaceable: Sharad Kelkar

Of late, there’s been a lot of discussion about the boom in the digital platforms for entertainment and the OTT overtaking the big screen. While the growth in the web space and consumption of content there has been immense, actors Sharad Kelkar believes that  theatres would never lose their popularity.

Making a bold statement, the Tanhaji actor says, “Theatres are irreplaceable. The experience that one has while watching something on a big screen cannot be replicated. There’s a lot of difference between watching a film on your phone, TV or laptop and watching it in a cinema hall. There’s no comparison,” says Kelkar.

Other than film, Sharad has also been part of several web projects, such as Rangbaaz Phir Se, Special Ops, The Family Man, Black Widows and web-released films such as Laxmii and Darbaan (both 2020). He enjoys being part of the web space, he feels that the theatre experience is something else. “Cinemas will remain because people will get bored of watching content on their phones, and obviously they would want to go to theatres. They would want to get the real big-screen experience.”

While both the mediums are very different, Kelkar feels that the audience as well as actors will continue to enjoy both the mediums. So they will coexist.

“Now, people have already started going back to cinemas. And perhaps big films like ’83 and Sooryavanshi will see the numbers go up, of course if the Covid-19 situation in the country gets better. But there is a parallel world called the OTT, which is here to stay here. There’sa lot is difference between web content and that in films. So both the mediums will survive and that will only lead to a great future of the entertainment industry,” says the actor.
