Abhay Kumar, grandson of Shri Rajnarayan Dube, one of the founders of Bombay Talkies is set to take a new step in the Film and Entertainment industry. The young heir is set to make his debut as an actor and director as well. Zakhmi (Hindi),which interestingly will also be canned in two other languages - Abhimanyu (Telugu) and Mahanayak (Bengali). the remaining crew and cast of the project is under finalization.
"This is for the very first time Universally that a film will be shot in 3 different languages simultaneously, viz. Hindi,Bengali and Telugu by a debutant actor and director. Bombay Talkies has moulded many careers, and Abhay says, " Its time to recreate the magic and set records."
The Bombay Talkies Limited (commonly known as Bombay Talkies) was a movie studio which produced 102 feature films. It was founded in 1934 by Himanshu Rai, Rajnarayan Dube and Devika Rani along with businessmen like F. E. Dinhsaw, Sir Firoze Sethna and others, with Franz Osten and Niranjan Pal as the first full-time filmmakers in Indian Cinema history. Rajnarayan Dube,at that timewas also known as the 'Pillar of Indian Cinema' had financed all 102 films of Bombay Talkies and some other banners also. Bombay Talkies introduced Dilip Kumar, his first film," Jwar Bhata", was released in 1944. The company also introduced Madhubala in the 1949 classic, "Mahal", said to have carved the careers of Raj Kapoor, Madhubala ,Mehmood and other successful names of the Indian Film Industry. The first Super Star of Indian Cinema Ashok Kumar was introduced in the Bombay Talkies produced film, "Achyut Kanya" along with the first Indian Diva Devika Rani.
