King Khan has turned down an offer to play a cop because he didn’t want to be seen as trying to ape his contemporaries
Shahrukh Khan is Bollywood’s resident lover boy and he is back to what he does best, with Yash Chopra’s forthcoming film. It came as a surprise when we heard that he is considering playing a cop in a Gautham Menon film, a remake of Vettiyadu Villayadu. Everyone in B-town was wondering if SRK will pull off the cop act; especially because he had recently essayed a negative character in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2. Comparisons with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan had already begun when we heard that he is not doing Menon’s film after the entire hullabaloo.
Latest news is that the Baadshah has green-lighted AR Murugadoss’s remake of Ramana. We are wondering how the Ghajini director managed to get SRK to play a social activist, which is totally outside his comfort zone. There were talks that Murugadoss had approached Aamir to play the lead, but somehow things didn’t work out. The film will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has been desperately looking for a hit since Guzaarish. Who knows, King Khan might change the director’s fortunes.
Shahrukh’s last outing where he didn’t play a lover boy was in Shimit Amin’s Chak De! India where he was highly appreciated. Wethinks it will be great to see him play an average bloke, not larger than life. Would you like watching SRK as a social activist and taking on the system?
