Women have been deprived a lot and haven’t got their due in society till today, in every sphere of life especially from the marginalized sections. Cases of exploitation of women and ill-treatment are quite prominent in the state of Assam. Therefore, to throw light on this issue Producer Nepon Dhoula initiated to make a film on this very thoughtful and relevant subject entitled 'Me and My Sister'.

Initially, the film was made in Assamese for the people of assam so that they watch the film and arouse to this serious issue prevailing in their state. But the recent storm created by the Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ on Female Foeticide forced the producer  to release this film in seven different languages including Assamese namely Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, rajasthan, and English.

“The story artistically depicts today’s burning social issues stressing specially on the rights of woman in the perspective of the changes taking place in the 21st century. We, the team of ‘Me and My Sister’ along with Jankalyan Morcha NGO would request to the government to increase this amount to one lakh.” Says Producer, Nepon Dhoula.
The Film is all set to release on 13th July’2012.
