Mukta
Arts, one of the India ’s
leading Entertainment companies celebrates its 34th Anniversary on October
24th. The date has become synonymous with the Bombay film industry, as it is the day that
Subhash Ghai, leading film director and producer as well as Mukta Arts’
chairman, announces new slate of films that the company will work in coming
year.
The
company has pioneered many first in the Indian film industry including being
the first company to insure one of its films, introducing the in-film
advertising to the film industry, becoming the first Indian company to list on
both Bombay and National stock exchanges, setting up India’s first digital
chain and launching Asia’s largest film, television and media arts institute,
Whistling Woods International. The company has business interests in all facets
of film industry – production, exhibition, infrastructure, distribution and
education.
The
company though is best known for its outstanding track records of hit films.
From the blockbusters directed by Subhassh Ghai himself including ‘Karz’,
‘Hero’, ‘Karma’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’; to
films produced by the company including
the hits ‘Aitraaz’, ‘Iqbal’, ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, and many others.
This year
too, the company has announced a slate of three exciting projects. ‘Ishq De
Maare’, a romantic comedy with the father- son’s combination of Dharmendra,
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol all sharing the screen after the success of ‘Yamla
Pagla Deewana’. ‘Apna Sapna Cash Money’, the sequel to the blockbuster produced
by Mukta in 2007. The film will be directed by Sangeet Sivan again and written
by Pankaj Trivedi.
Finally,
‘Kaanchi’, written and directed by Subhash Ghai, the story of young girl from
the mountains and her fight against the country’s biggest powers. The film
stars Rishi Kapoor in a villainous role and has music by Ismaill Durbar and
Salim Suleiman. Irshad Kamil is writing the lyrics.
Beside
this, the company is planning to expand its programming business
significantly. As of now, the division
controls over 470 theatres across India giving the company
significant strength in distribution. The company has also forehead in the
multiplex business with an innovative model. Mukta Cinemas is planning to
expand to over 35 screens across India by the end of financial year.
Speaking on the occasion, Subhash Ghai said “Despite
the high’s and low’s that come in the film business, Mukta Arts journey has
gone from strength to strength. This is due to its inherit merits that are not
always obvious to people looking from outside. I see Mukta coming back to its
shining glory very soon with the launching of these three interesting projects.
Three more films will follow early next year with big stars and Mukta will be
rolling again.”
He further
added, “We are moving forward with our experiences and a new, revamped team of
professional across education, exhibition, distribution and software
production. I congratulate my team for our achievements so far, there is still
much to do and we are always striving for the best for our audience and
shareholders”.
