Holi used to be the all popular sequence in Hindi Films. We do have so many memorable Holi songs from earlier films. But now it has been embraced by television in a big way. Shashi-Sumeet Production’s show Diya Aur Baati began the festivities with Holika Dahan to kill all evil. “It is so much of fun, especially with people you are spending so much of time. They are like an extended real family. Anyways, I do love to play with colours,” commented Dipika Singh.
Adds Sumeet Mittal, “films are now down playing such an important festival. In the urban setups of the storyline, they don’t have space for Holi or Diwali. But for television, where we are so close to reality, it adds so much of connectivity for the viewer. This is real India.”
