Just when the entire world will be celebrating ‘World Sleep Day’ on March 15, the annual event is a festivity of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep. Vetaran actor Naseeruddin Shah considers dozing off as few of his favourite things. Naseeruddin Shah says “This year’s theme is ‘Good Sleep, Healthy Aging’. Getting a good night’s sleep is possible at any age- and is vitally important for overall health. Most of us have busy, hectic lives and there is always a new challenging day ahead. One has to keep up with their commitments on an ongoing basis; equally one has to make sure to keep their health in check, which can be done by getting proper sleep.”
The actor who is known to play varied characters in his films enjoys his part of role and work and considers giving its full credit towards sleep. Coincidentally Naseeruddin Shah’s upcoming movie is also based on sleep, where one can buy sleep at ‘Sona Spa’,where sleep workers sleep on your behalf. Talking about his role, Naseeruddin Shah says “I play the role of Baba Dayanand who sells sleep for a fee in this film. The film is a satire on god man of our country. In Sona Spa, girls sleep for men, but not sleep with them”.
Sona Spa is inspired by a Hindi play of the same name written & directed by Makrand Deshpande. “When Makrand narrated the concept to me, I immediately agreed and was convinced with the idea as I had seen the rehearsals of the play too. I never make a deliberate effort to be different in choice of work. For Sona Spa- I think I can pride myself on the fact that a lot of my films have variety and that is not because of me, but it is because of the writers and filmmakers as I believe”, says Naseeruddin Shah.
Sona Spa, produced by Miraj Entertainment, releases March 22, 2013
