Putting light on the tragic events of Punjab that happened between 1980’s Pollywood’s latest sensation Sadda Haq which has been acclaimed as Historical Documentary would be releasing in India on 10th May 2013 after been banned thrice. To Announce this, the entire team of the film including Lead Actors Kuljinder Singh Sidhu,Guarav Kakkar and Producer Dinesh Sood addressed a specaila press conference at PVR Plaza, Cp.
Addressing the Press Conference, Kuljinder Singh Sidhu informed, “We have to face a lot of challenges during the production of the film but due to the unequaled support and admiration of audience, the film touched the heights of establishing new records in Punjabi Film Industry. it indeed is the first ever film whose screening was done seven times by different committees of State Government,.”
The film inspired by the real incidents of black period of Punjab was earlier given ‘U’ certificate by the censor borad but later it was ‘A’ certified.The Sikh sermon used in the film was also considered objectionable.
Addressing the Press, Dinesh Sood the Producer of Sadda Haq also shared, “this ban imposed by Censor Board was strongly opposed by the entire Sikh Community, Religious Leaders and Leading Sikh Organizations and they all raised their voice for the release of Sadda Haq. Now this film would be releasing in the Cinema Houses of all over India on 10th May 2013.” He further adds that, “the controversy has worked for us. It has created a kind of curiosity in the audience to watch the film.”
Speaking on the language of the movie being Punjabi, Kuljinder Singh said, “Many movies were made on the subject of militants, they were according to the character, the soul of the movie would have been lost if it would have been made in any other language.”
The film directed by Mandeep Benipal is all set to release on 10th May.
