Dr.Soma Ghosh, foster daughter of Ustad Bismillah Khan and a veteran classical vocalist, strives to preserve the cultural heritage of our country through her Madhu Murchhana movement. Parampara Kal Aur Aaj is a movement where Madhu Murchhana heritage band fuses the ancient with the modern, bringing to life endangered musical instruments in their fullest glory. The tar shenai, esraj, sarangi and ravan hatta will vie with pakhawaj, folk music, jugalbandi, siddh veena, sitar, tabla, harmonium, sarod, and will also take do a modern of take on traditional music, retaining our culture through it. Madhu Murchhana Heritage Band performed at Ravindra Natya Mandir with Nazish Khan, Aquid Khan (Tabla), Shankar Nandi (Khol, Dhol), Krishna Mohan( Damroo, Jhanj et cetra), Debashish Haldar (Tar Shehnai, Esraaj, Sarangi), Iqbal Warsi (Ravan Hatya), Mrinal Upadhyay (Pakhawaj). Folk songs by sufi singer Mudasir Ali and Shoma Banerjee and back up vocals by Tulsi and Suboor Khan. Dance choreography by Vichitra Mukherjee. Concept: Dr. Soma Ghosh. Jugalbandi: Jyoti Hegde (Rudraveena) and Siddharth Banerjee (Siddha Veena).Accompanied by Mrinal Upadhyay on Pakhawaj and Prashant on Tabla.
