Vasvik, (Vividhilaxi Audyogik
Samshodhan Vikas Kendra) is it's in 39th edition this year in the previous year’s
eminent and respected personalities attended which were APJ Kalam Azad, Manmohan Singh (1993) Narendra
Modi, Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott(2000), Lord Dholakia, Morarji Desai
when he was Prime Minister in 1976, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma(1984)
VASVIK is a non-profit, non-government organization established
in 1974 and run by the Patel Family of Mumbai, who are the owners of the Patel
Extrusion Group, with ISO 9002 certified companies. The Group has been the
winner of various awards including theJamnalal Bajaj award, Priyadarshini
award, Arch of Europe award and the Cleo award of the USA.
The VASVIK Research awards are given with the aim of promoting
industrial research, Science and technology in India.
The prestigious awards were given away amidst the gracious
presence of Dr. R. A. Mashelkar & Director of
Bajaj Group; Shri Niraj Bajaj.
Chairman, Dr. M. I. Patel explains the objective of VASVIK “We have
instituted nine annual VASVIK Industrial Research Awards, each of Rs. 1,
00,000/-, and a citation to be awarded to an individual or group of
individuals, who, in the opinion of our Board of Advisors, have made
outstanding contribution to the advancement of science and technology or
provided leadership leading directly to national prosperity in India.”
Prof. M. M. Sharma adds, “India is passing through one of its
best phase of history; the economic growth, the rising level of the standard of
life of our people, the spread of education and involvement of our people in
the affairs of the country as never before.”
AIMS OF VASVIK
It is now well realized that in any industrial society or
country, economic growth is essential to improve the quality of life. For a
country like India striving to achieve economic prosperity and sustainable
development, all individuals and organizations, which have the ability to do
so, should help the cause of promoting research. The above multi-purpose
industrial research promoting centre was founded to contribute towards this end
and strengthen the efforts being made in the field of industrial research in
India.
SCOPE OF VASVIK
Consideration will be given to achievements in design or any
production techniques or methods, particularly with regard to their impact on
industrial and economic growth, import substitution, saving of foreign
exchange, cost reduction, etc. Achievements within the past 10 years will be
given priority.
Following Awards of Rs. 1, 00, 000/- each were given to Indian
citizens for research in each of the following fields:
