Hollywood often takes popular literary work and turns
them into cinematic masterpieces.
Therefore, some of the greatest movies of all-time have been adapted
from a few of the most popular books; be it Gone Girl, The Shawshank
Redemption, or To Kill a Mocking Bird. These films then go on to become so
popular that people often tend to forget that they were originally adapted from
books. Here is a list of popular movies you never expected were based on books:
BLADE RUNNER:
Visually spectacular, intensely action-packed and
powerfully prophetic since its debut, Blade Runner is a modified film
adaptation of the 1968 Novel
‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’ by Philip K. Dick.
MRS
DOUBTFIRE:
A film that gained cult status with Robin Williams’
double role, Mrs. Doubtfire believe it or not is based on the book ‘Madame
Doubtfire’ by Anne Fine
PITCH PERFECT:
The 2012 Musical
Comedy film is loosely adapted from Mickey Rapkin's non-fiction book, titled
‘Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate a Cappella Glory’
JAWS:

marine scientist and a fisherman effort’s to stop a gigantic white shark is
based on the novel- ‘Jaws' by Peter Benchley
DIE
HARD:
The Bruce Willis film that spawned a series is based on
Roderick Thorp's 1979 novel
‘Nothing Lasts Forever’.
FORREST GUMP:
The Academy Award winning movie was adapted by Hollywood’s
best known screen writer Eric Roth who adapted the novel’ Forrest Gump’, an
adventure journey novel by Winston Groom into the Tom Hanks starring success.
Therefore, this may come as a surprise that these popular
movies have found inspiration from the pages of books. Similarly Star Movies
Select HD brings books such as The Fault In Our Stars, The Devil Wears Prada,
The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and many more alive with the
Book Adaptation festival starting July 17, every Sunday at 1PM and 3PM
