In the
stressful life that we live, we have somehow become machines, forgetting to
live life. Hence the need for Global Wellness Day, to shed light on the fact
that life is all about wellness. Last year saw Global Wellness Day celebrations
in over 100 countries and 4,000 locations, and this year is no less.
This
year Global Wellness Ambassador Rekha Chaudhari, keeping with the motto of one
day can change your whole life, gave global Wellness a newer meaning by
bringing it to the citizens of India with unique programmes. Blood donation
drives, eye, dental and body checkups, enhancing fitness in the hospitality
industry, yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, healthy food workshops, BMI
counselling, healthy diet tips, the bid was to get as many citizens to say Yes
to wellness. And simply change the way they look at life.
The
finale was a special programme for the Mantralaya employees to drive home the
concept of Wellness at Workplace on June 13, graced by the Honourable Chief
Minister, Mr Devendra Fadnavis, Global Wellness Ambassador Rekha Chaudhari,
Girish Mahjan - Hon Medical Education Minister, Jayakumar Rawal - Minister of
Tourism Employment Guarantee Scheme, Chandrashekhar Bawankule - Maharashtra
State Electricity Minister besides dignitaries Dino Morea, Shailendra Singh,
Smita Thackeray, who are role models of wellness and fitness. The centrestage was
taken by the farmer’s children of (JSWE) Maharashtra, specifically trained and
skilled to perform holistic wellness treatments, demonstrating the benefits of
being healthy and showcasing wellness, driving home the thought with simplicity
and ease!
“Wellness
is not a luxury. It is in fact, the inherent right of every individual and we
are working hard to create this awareness for the betterment of society. Global Wellness Day is a social platform that
creates awareness in the entire world for the importance of living well,”
averred Global Wellness Ambassador Rekha Chaudhari.
“I am
happy to now and be part of this day where wellness is being celebrated.
Health, physical, mental or emotional is something we forget to take care of as
we get so caught up in our day-to-day life and its many issues. It is important
to draw your attention back to you and focus on yourself,” says Dino Morea
“Wellness
at work is your state of mind, body and soul in sync with each other creating
positive energies. And it is this positivity that keeps us going,” sums up
Shailendra Singh.Global
