During the course of promoting the new Y-Films movie,
Bank Chor, lead actor Riteish Deshmukh aka Bank Chor has fallen on such bad
days that he’s now turned Chindi Chor. At Dadar’s famous Sahakari Bhandaar,
Riteish was caught stealing, among other things, a watermelon, a bottle of
juice, a packet of noodles, and even a customer’s mobile phone. Unfortunately,
in character as Champak, the incompetent chor, he’s actually managed to get
caught on camera!
This was, of course, another wacky promotional campaign
tactic of Bank Chor, that’s so far had one of the maddest marketing campaign
Bollywood’s seen. As part of a series of prank dares titled ‘Impractical Bank
Chors, ex-MTV VJ Jose Covaco dared Riteish to pull off a bunch of impractical
choris on unsuspecting customers to evoke reactions on camera. The results were
hilarious to say the least!
Even Riteish got to take revenge on Jose when he asked
him to do pranks that were even more bizarre. In one such gag, the Jose along
with Rhea Chakraborty had to pretend to be a couple going through a break-up, and
fight in front of the other customers.
In between all this, the customers of the supermarket
were also left bewildered when they saw two men, one in a haathi mask (Gulab)
and one in a ghoda mask (Genda), roaming around casually near them, taking
selfies and doing other inane things.
Did anyone manage to catch the pranks of these Bank
Chors? Check out the video to know!
Says Riteish Deshmukh, “I have gone to many lengths to
promote Bank Chor but I didn’t think that the team will make me do actual
chindi choris! My character Champak would never have been able to pull it off
but as Riteish, I pulled it off without being recognized... although that part
made me feel like an actual Bank Chor.”
Self-confessedly India’s STUPIDEST comic thriller, Bank
Chor, directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish Patil, is all set to embarrass
its makers when it releases in theaters on June 16. The trailer of the film is
out on YouTube.com/YFilms. Please watch it. Pretty please.
