~ ‘Tumhari Sulu’ leads the way
amassing the highest number of nominations in 7 categories; ‘Newton’ comes a
close second with 5 nominations
Mumbai, 22nd May, 2018: With the
excitement building up ahead of the 19th Edition of NEXA 2018 IIFA AWARDS
Styled by Myntra, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards announces
nominations lists in the popular category today as Global Voting goes live from
22nd May. The biggest celebration of Indian cinema is set to be held at the
reputed, Siam Niramit theatre, Bangkok on the 22nd & 24th of June as IIFA
honours the highest level of achievement seen with the glamorous IIFA statuette
at the highly anticipated Awards night.
The principal partners for the 19th
edition are: Host Destination Partner Tourism Authority of Thailand; Title
Sponsor NEXA, Styled By Myntra; Cause Partner Woosh Washing expert campaigning
about Equality at home; Official Hotel Partner Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s
Park; Venue Partner Siam Niramit.
Indian Cinema has had an incredible
year with a diverse number of truly unique films that not only took the box
office by storm but were also critically acclaimed. With a whopping 7
nominations in the popular categories including the Best picture category,
‘Tumhari Sulu’ is the firm favorite followed by ‘Newton’, which amassed an
impressive 5 nominations including in the Best Direction category. The top
picks for the Best Picture category have been revealed as Bareilly Ki Barfi,
Hindi Medium, Newton, Toilet - Ek Prem Katha and Tumhari Sulu.
The nominees for Best Actor in a
leading role (Male) are Irrfan Khan (Hindi Medium), Ranbir Kapoor (Jagga
Jasoos), Adil Hussain (Mukti Bhawan), Rajkummar Rao (Newton), Akshay Kumar
(Toilet - Ek Prem Katha).
The nominees for Best Actor in a
leading role (Female) are Seema Pahwa (Bareilly Ki Barfi), Tabu (Golmaal
Again), Meher Vij (Secret Superstar), Seema Pahwa (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan), Neha
Dhupia (Tumhari Sulu).
Nominations for the Best Director
category include Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (Bareilly Ki Barfi), Saket Chaudhary
(Hindi Medium), Anurag Basu (Jagga Jasoos), Amit V Masurkar (Newton), Suresh
Triveni (Tumhari Sulu).
