The history of Percussion goes back to the Rock,
the oldest musical instrument ever known to mankind, even the Paleolithic Man
couldn’t resist the urge to tap them together and start grooving! Percussion
instruments have been in existence for thousands of years and we are going to
focus on two instruments from the ocean of percussion music: Drums and the
Kanjira.
Buddy Rich-He is the World’s Greatest Drummer by
Modern Drummer magazine. He had 5 GRAMMY nominations;
The Jazz Unlimited Immortals of Jazz Award; President’s Special Merit Award

Shri G. Harishankar- considered the greatest
Kanjira artist ever, ushered the Kanjira into a special place and went on to give
it an international dimension. He became the torchbearer of the Pudukkottai
