Puneet’s next, I Am Singh

Actor-turned-director Puneet Issar who hasmade “I Am Singh” will focus on the hardships Sikhs had to go through post the9/11 attack. The director wanted to make the movie so authentic that he haskept no room for diplomacy and has based it on real stories, facts, dates andfigures. “Sikhs are living in the US since 1897, and post the 9/11 attack theywere beaten up as they were taken for Arabs, Afghanis or Muslims. Doesn’t thissound weird? I mean they are living in America for 114 years and then they get beatenup. This is what motivated me to make this film, to show a true picture of thesituation,” he said.
It was after a four-year research thathe came up with a script based on the hate crime issue. But with such asubject, the film, which is majorly shot in the US, had to go through a lot ofhardships, confirms Issar. “Every time we had to shoot, we needed permissionand each time they would go through the script just to see what we areportraying in the film. At times it was difficult, like when we had to get lawenforcement clearances, etc,” he said.
But after 9/11, there were many filmson the same lines, so why did he think of coming up with I Am Singh now? “Myfilm focusses on the problems faced by the Sikhs, something which no otherfilms have done so far. For example, My Name Is Khan is a take on life post9/11 but with a Muslim angle.”
The film, that hasbeen shot at various parts of US including Los Angeles, San Francisco and LasVegas, is set to release on December 2.

SHABNAM SAYED RE-ENTERS TELEVISION IN A NEW AVATAR IN ZEE'S HITLER DIDI

After a two-year long hiatus, Shabnam Sayed is all set to once again make her presence felt on the small screen in Zee TV's Hitler Didi. The talented actress, who carved a niche for herself with her popular roles in Jassi Jaise Koi Nahi, Milli and Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai, will be seen in a completely new avatar - as a young woman married to a much older husband.

“I play the wife of a person whose daughter is of my age,” says Shabnam. The character, she says, has a lot of grey shades and is interesting as well as challenging. “Usually, an older husband feels insecure when he is married to a younger woman,” opines Shabnam. “But in this case, it is my character who feels insecure in this relationship. Consequently, she becomes very possessive about him.” Besides the role’s complexity, another challenge is speaking in a different accent. “I am required to speak with a Bangla accent which has made things that much more challenging for me, as I am not familiar with the language. However, both the writer and director have helped me a lot in picking up the language and I don’t have any problem with it now.”

"I love women in Sarees" says Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor who stars opposite Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture feels the women are most sensuous in a saree and if it is a wet saree then more so. According to him,  women in saree are difficult to resist and are more attractive then women in western clothes.

He is especially appreciative of how Vidya looks in The Dirty Picture,  where she has carried off wearing clinging red saree with lot of oomph. Tusshar Kapoor also strongly feels that in Hindi Cinema most of the sensuous portrayals have been in sarees.
